A great castle for the tourists to visit. The credit goes to Surat Municipal Corporation for an immaculate renovation work to keep the spirits and detailings of this fourteenth Century fort. The audio-visual show was very informative for the scholars as well as common visitors. The demonstrator and the security personnel are very cordial and apt at their jobs.
Pleasant visits.

The Surat castle and fort is a historical place!
Recently renovated by the Surat Municipal corporation, it starts with a movie and then a semi-guided tour of the place. The entire fort is converted into a museum!
Ticket charges are rs 50 for child, 50 for senior citizen and 100 for adult. This place will a good two hours to visit so take your time. We saw old paintings, archeological artifacts, coins and stamp collection, old maps of Surat, etc. Photography inside the museum is not allowed but we can take pictures in the fort area.
If you love history especially of Surat & how the Mughals & Britishers impacted that place you can check out the castle. Renovation work has improved parts of the castle. And some good architecture & souvenirs can be seen. Plus they have a 10 minutes video which explains the history of the castle. Nice experience.
The castle is small but many interesting things to see.. Very interesting place and we het know lot about how, why and when Surat Fort was built.
Important Note:-
Recommend taking Cash for purchase of tickets as online payment is not accepted.
Adults-100/-
Children -50/-
Surat Castle is a hidden gem! Its lace-like design sets a unique vibe, and it's small on the outside but impressively big on the inside. Discover Surat's rich history here – it's a must-visit!
Surat Castle is undeniably captivating, but it's worth noting that only the Mughal flag is displayed, not the Indian flag, which some may find disappointing. Nonetheless, it's still a historical treasure worth exploring.🇮🇳
A fortress on the banks of the Tapi river. Wonderful Experience. Excellent display of Surat's history & vintage artifacts. There is a short movie screening too which gives insight of Surat's castle's history and city's waterway trade and textile industry.
The fortress is a renovated version of the centuries old Fort that was built by Kings. You have to take a ticket for entry (100/person). There are securities everywhere to direct you through the fort. You will be initially given an orientation of what you are going to see and the history behind it and they also walk you through the intense renovation process through a video, projected in an audiovisual room. There are a lot of exhibits and you walk through the different areas of the fort that was meant for specific purposes. Very picturesque for photography enthusiasts too.
PS: Be ready to walk and climb a lot of stairs. May not be comfortable for elderly with walking difficulties. Not very wheelchair friendly acc. to my observation.
Rs100 entry fee.
Guided experience of history.
Well preserved. Can see coins, sculptures, manuscripts, furniture, Artefacts of different eras. Gives an insight into the battles, royal life and importance.
