This is a go to place for malvani food and really pocket friendly and delicious. Really appreciate what they offer value for money food at the price also keepig up the quality of food good, the fish thalis were good, solkadi was great too and bhakris were really soft and large at really affordable price.

The restaurant is specifically for malwani food and you get very good sea food at reasonable price. The surmai fry and the bombil fry is ultimate and the dessert " Kharvas" is a must try dish of this restaurant.
This restaurant has changed to fully AC but still old on menu, so like the place and new change. Even the food is similar as ate before. NICE

Nice food. Non veg thali has several options like fish thali, chicken thali, suka chicken thali, mutton thali.
Breads have option like bhakar, chapati,mutton vada.
Thali also consists of suka jaula chutney and solkadi.
Overall experience is good.
If ambiance does not take preference over food, one should visit this place for malavani food. Mutton vade is a personal favourite. Good variety of seafood. One should go for thali options from the menu.

Malwani food at its best! Ordered for pomfret thali, mutton thali, fried bombil and prawns. Been here quite a lot of times and the food quality remains the same. Don't forget to try their solkadi.

Been here just once...Yet another Malvani konkan style Restaurant. Tried bombay duck. It was fresh and cooked well. Other dishes also up to the mark. Just didn't had the feel good factor. Ambience ..OK.
So basically we're always here for Kolambi Bhat and my mom keeps asking us to home here all the freaking time. Next in line is Solkadi. The place is a regular diner but the food is traditionally good. Worth a visit for the menu above.

Looking for Malvani or Seafood? You will love this place. Its Liver Masala and Solkadhi with Bhakari is amazing. Best Liver Masala I ever ate. The staff is very good, helpful and attentive. The ambience is cool. Must visit once. And try their Liver Masala❤

Although a Restaurant may have an elaborate menu, please stick to the basics i.e. what a particular restaurant is known for. Similarly when at Vijaydurg (VD) stick to the Konkani/Malwani Seafood fare, and Kokani/Malwani versions of red meat. That is what VD is good at. Do not ask for a chicken lollypop, or a veg/chicken munchow soup... you might as well go to other places for the chinese(Indian version of Chinese) or punjabi (VD has that too).
There are both AC and Non-AC sections, prices even in the AC section are reasonable. Do not expect a polished steward/waiter attending to you, nevertheless they are clean, courteous and patient.
Food:
The entire range of seafood is taste-wise great, again please do not expect some great presentation by the chef. Do not assume that they have all the variety of fishes written on the menu, so ask the staff attending on the availability. Bombil Fry and Surmai fry are just awesome, wash them down with Solkadhi. The fish/prawns have always been very fresh. Thali with Bhakri (Rice) or Vade (the Kokani/Malwani bread) options are there to choose from, since we do not have them often. Two of us have tried various combinations over the years i.e. one going for Thali and the other for Al-a-carte. I make it a point to order a Solkadhi although a small bowl full of it is a part of Thali.
Also do not miss the Kharwas, a sweet made cow milk (first 1-3 days of cow starting to lactate) a very common sweetmeat in Maharashtra.
Service: I have always been there for Sunday Lunches. If you want quicker services, better be there before everybody else may be by about 12 or 12.30 noon. The services do slow down considerably in the later hours with guests' numbers swelling gradually. AC section has just about 2 service staff (My observation over the years). Also, they get hassled thanks to larger groups giving multiple orders with multiple and ever changing instructions. Do not expect designer plates, forks/spoons. You will be served in steel plates (sometimes with a dent or two), bowls and be given steel spoons.
I have been comfortable with steel crockery, and does not matter either as long as the seafood is very fresh.
However, to enjoy your meal be patient with them. If you are a Maharashtrian/or manage to speak then do speak with the service staff in Marathi, and they would be at ease with you, and get you things the way you want.
Conclusion: I have not seen this optimal combination i.e. Food Quality and Taste, Comfortable and Cozy sitting arrangement (in the AC section) and above all the price. I am yet to comprehend their economics. Great experience, as always.
Last Advice: Go with an open mind...., thinking about only food, rest will be taken care.
A must visit with family,friends and even colleagues for authentic Kokani/Malwani food, which is not at all heavy on your pocket.

A Malvani / Konkan restaurant which serves Thali's with different assortment of fishes. Taste wise it was authentic and above average. It was not heavy on the pocket. Worth a try!!!!
Vijaydurg is where you will get typical konkani cuisine. Been here yesterday with my mother. Ambience is good, neat and clean place. They have A/C section also. I been in non-a/c so i give my review on non -a/c part of the restaurant place only. Servicing was nice, waiters know about the dishes when enquired and also give nice suggestions too. We ordered Mutton Biryani and Mutton Fry Thali. As it was non rush hours we got our order quickly. Mutton biryani was little spicy but tasty and was served with koshimbir (Raita). We ordered the thali wid rice bhakkri/chapati. As konkani speciality it consisted with Mutton Fry Thick Gravy, Bhaji, Curry and typical solkadi. Both the dishes were little spicy but tasty as well. Mutton was perfectly cooked and was tasty. So if you want to try out some of the special konkani dishes you should really try out this restaurant. Overall had a nice experience visiting this restaurant. :D

a good place to have malwani food. The kombdi vade are excellent here though they can improve more on the chicken curries and sol kadhi. Not the traditional or regular sol kadhi and it more tasted like chass. The chicken gravy was more like masala based which should have been more like curry based. But overall taste is good.

The Malvani food is spot on. Bombil Masala, Chicken Rassa, Prawns Fry with Bhakri ki roti, thecha and pyaaz, along with the way of preparation brings about a homely feel to the food. I try visiting the restaurant whenever I crave the Malvani food. To end it all, have a Kharvas :) Their service staff is very polite and courteous. Love the ambiance.

Visited today afternoon after many years and had ordered for a Prawns masala thali, one Pomfret tawa fry and one plate of Bangda tawa fry. The food was really good, very tasty masala of prawns Curry and the fish was perfectly fried. Loved the food and would love to revisit very soon. The delivery of food was fast 👍👍

Quite old restaurant, still at its best. I with my family visited this place on weekday it was fully empty.
We had lollipops, prawns thali, chicken tandoori and the dis which was the must try was "dry fish" it was simply awesome.
It was super delicious. Other food were good.
Staff and service was good but can be better. Few moments i found them ignoring us though the restaurant was fully empty.
The 4th star is just for the "dry fish" which bloomed my pallet.
