Excellent service, tasty and cheap ❤️❤️❤️❤️ ,
They are famous for mutton dishes . Me and my friend had mutton perattu . mutton fry and parathas . mutton perattu was good , Fry was average . Paratha ok ok . The ginger lime was good . Fried rice we didnt like . Overall good . Not spectacular , Ambience good . Service was good
Yummy mutton Biriyani ... but needs more meat in it.. hence removed a star.. taste is great though !
I had heard a lot about this place and visited it twice earlier but had to leave because of the rush. I finally had their food and absolutely enjoyed it. Fresh and delicious. Their ambience is also pretty decent. The service can be slow due to the rush but that's natural. The food was worth each penny and is perfect for family outings. Their porotta was soft and beautifully layered and the chicken roast was flavourful and the chicken was tender.Their biriyani didn't disappoint either. I totally recommend their chicken roast with porotta or appams.

We opted for wheat parotta, oratti, egg makhani and pathiri. The food was very good as expected from azad. It was also piping hot. What makes it a five star rating was they added a gravy curry also with my order. Thank you azad
Small place but excellent food . Go for kothu Parotha and dry mutton .
The mutton gravy is not half as nice
Biryani is apparently popular but was sold out
This is a wonderful place for mutton fry. They serve really nice mutton fry. The biriyani is also delicious. My usual pick from here is biriyani, parotta and mutton fry.

Vast menu with emphasis on traditional Kerala dishes ( with twists ). Big fan of the tangy beetroot chicken curry ,which was exceptional. The interior /decor is well crafted. Disheartened by the multiple bad reviews in Google about the place. Biased perhaps. Azad is not really known for good service.I personally have had bad experiences with ill behaved waiters at other joints(especially Medical College one ). However , this place seems to be an exception. All 3 encounters with the staff have been friendly, so far
My first full meal in Trivandrum and thanks to the local crowd for suggesting this place.. It was a Sunday afternoon.. Very crowded and ended up in a queue.. But it was worth the wait.. Chicken briyani was yummy.. One of the best briyanis i ever had.. Mutton chops was on the average side.. Service was very slow n not so friendly types..

Was visiting brother in tvm so was browsing through a good place to have lunch. Heard about Azad restaurant as one of the oldest restaurant in tvm so wanted to give a try . Three floors and all occupied so had to wait 30 min to get seated , did wait with patience as did not want to miss on the opportunity to dine their as it has to be good if it is so occupied . The waiter was kind a busy and impatient while taking order as was not happy whn we discussed amongst ourselves and changed dishes as there ws a lot of options in menu. Cannot blame the poor guy as the pressure of serving so many people and going up and down to fetch and give order from kitchen can make anybody worked up. Ordered chappayia, mutton stew, neymeen fry , noodles , Kadhai panneer , juices, chicken biriyani. Some dishes like Orrati and all majority of the dishes were not available. But the food was really good and no wonder this place was packed. The mutton especially was really good and the fish tasted awesome with great masala. Will surely visit this place and a must to go place for kerala food while In TVM
The chicken fry, biriyani, barotta is just too good from azad.. :)
Some years back the biriyani was not that good and now it is just superb.
I'm a regular customer of Azad for over 10 years now. When it comes to food, their butter chicken is the best in the city. Their biriyanis are amazing too. Kothu porotta is also delicious. Very polite staff.
Azad is a legendary restaurant from trivandrum originally established by m pillai. The restaurant has some historical association with some Indian freedom struggle personalities, and that's why the name Azad! They also run bread factory and one chai joint in trivandrum! All of them are good!
Chicken mapas and theirs appam is something which is worth 5 stars, and believe me they are very sumptuous and delectable! But none of the soups are worth trying and they need improve on same! Kothu paratha is high on concept but very dilute in taste! But overall it's good and reasonable place for non veg food!.
Love the biriyanis, this place definitely has a charm of the old trivandrum, reminding people of the old flavors. Their chicken fry and kerala porotta combo is a must try!
Azad biryani is renowned, making it to the top biryani spots in Trivandrum and for good reason.
Chicken biryani :
The smell wafting from the container then and even now, as I pen this review induces salivation and unprecedented tummy rumblings. The delicious drumstick cooked richly with spices, juicy and ooh so wonderfully tender, it just melts in your mouth. Your eyes shut as you take in the textures, surrender to the wave of flavours that surrounds you. I apologise for the lack of pictures to substantiate my claim. Lack of any constraints after the first bite !
Roast chicken & Chilly chicken are the Tweedledee & Tweedledum of Kerala parota sides. They rise higher than the riding expectations and leave you wanting more.
Azad is a MUST VISIT for chicken biryani. Gastronomic treat.
The tastes of different foods are available here.......Chinese and etc tastes are available are here for our wish.....what we want....that will they give as our tastes...
Guys try out the kothuparotta from azad, vazhuthacaud.....
Really , no others can match the taste.
(My personal opinion)
Just in laaav with azad kothuparotta! ❤💓
Best mutton biriyani. Could have given 5 star, but for the service they offer. They have multiple outlets, and all places have problem in service.
Azad was the undisputed king of biriyanis back in the day , one of the more iconic food joints of trivandrum ( really famous for its authentic dum biriyanis served with a slice of pineapple) . The taste of biriyani has really different n nostalgic to “us” trivandrians . Its a really good biriyani .
Another iconic dish is delectable kothu parotta, n trust me for kothu parottas azad s as good as it gets .
Yet another dish which stands out ( spl mention) s their own spicy 🌶 grilled chicken, their own inhouse special where arabic food gets an indian makeover , an absolute favourite dish of mine . REALLY spicy hot version of grilled chicken is lip smacking for any spicy heads out there, is highly recommended u have a taste of this bad boy .
Fyi - service s a bit slow on vazhuthacaud branch
Food was amazing, surprised how it is rated 3.0, food quality and taste is way better... service yes agree not top of the notch but food quality make up for it..
A true culinary delight with excellent service and good food, with decent seating capacity and limited parking, (need to wait for 10 to 20 mins during weekends) azad is a part of trivians memory and famous for mutton dishes. As a regular customer i had Tried almost every dishes from their menu not every dish gives you the perfect vibe. Mutton soup and honey glazed chicken was exceptional. Cleanliness and behaviours of staffs are excellent. Will visit again and try out more dishes.
Food: Had chicken biriyani, absolutely sumptuous and with a mild flavour and beautifully well cooked chicken.
Service: absolutely amazing with gentle approach
Atmosphere: interiors are well done with a great ambience.
All in all an absolutely great experience, fulls your heart and mind.
We were in search of a good restaurant in town which is less crowded and with good parking facilities. Finally we ended up here.
The interior is really cool and refreshing. Especially the seats, they were really comfortable. The staff was very friendly and professional.
Food tastes fresh and good. They have a good variety of food on their menu.

Azad Restaurant, where cool interiors and comfy seats elevate your dining experience! 😌 Fresh, tasty food with a diverse menu to choose from. 🍛🥘 But, the price? 🤑 Quantity doesn't match up! ⚖️ And patience is key here, service takes its time. ⏳ #AzadRestaurantAdventures #DeliciousDilemma 😋🍴
Exceptional Food, Limited Parking, and Air-Conditioned Comfort
This restaurant is a true culinary delight, offering outstanding food that surpasses expectations. The dishes are prepared with utmost care using premium ingredients, resulting in exceptional flavors that will please any palate. Although parking is limited, accommodating only around 6 or 7 cars, the remarkable dining experience makes it well worth the effort.
One notable feature of this restaurant is its air-conditioned comfort. Regardless of the weather outside, guests can enjoy their meals in a pleasant and cool environment. It adds an extra touch of comfort to the overall dining experience.
While the prices are in the medium to high range, the superb taste and attentive service justify the cost. Whether it's for a special occasion or simply to indulge in an exquisite meal, this restaurant is a top choice for those seeking remarkable cuisine.
In summary, despite the limited parking, this restaurant shines with its exceptional food, air-conditioned comfort, and memorable dining experience. If you're looking for a place to enjoy a truly outstanding culinary journey, this restaurant is a must-visit destination.
A good fine dine restaurant with tasty food and wonderful service. If you wanna try a good tasty biriyani azad is just the spot for you. They offer a wide range of food items and drinks
Azad is a core part of a Trivandrumian's memory and culture. Azad star with their unique menu doesn't disappoint. Their thali meals is sumptuous and wholesome. They have the right thing for every course for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. I love their lemon and coriander soup, something I repetitively order via their online app. Friendly and welcoming staff and great ambience makes you go there again..
The food was great... the service was excellent... We had chicken curry and mutton chops... the only small setback we faced, there was no bigger tables... all were perfect for four in Vazhuthacaud branch.
Indulging in the flavors of Kerala at Azad star was an absolute delight! The authenticity of the cuisine truly transported me to the heart of Kerala. The flavors were rich, vibrant, and perfectly reminiscent of traditional recipes.
The standout feature, apart from the incredible food, was the impeccable customer service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Their warmth and attentiveness added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal.
However, the only downside was the parking situation, which posed a challenge. Despite this, the overall experience overshadowed this inconvenience. I highly recommend Azad star to anyone craving an authentic taste of Kerala, accompanied by exceptional service.
Service was exceptionally good. I tried travancore mutton biriyani. Very good biriyani with quantity and quality is good. They say it is authentic travancore biriyani. Every thing is a little bit expensive.
The only problem I found is During peak hours going in the car is not advisable, cause there is very less parking space. Maybe they can accommodate 6-7 cars only. And the street outside is very crowded with traffic signals ahead. I had to take one more round to find a parking space.
Average Ambiance good food. Excellent service…
Love to have mutton dishes..well cooked..balance spice.
Chicken and mutton fry really good
As comparing to price quantity average and quality seems to be good
Only draw back what I feel is the senior staff way of approach for tips..feels like demanding...
Good food, great service, and pleasant ambience
Their chicken fry is one of the best in the city. Try going before peak hours to get the most out of their menu as the items get over during peak hours. Tried their passion fruit lemonade, pineapple juice, nemeen noodle soup, palak paneer and Ceylon Paratha. The taste was okay but not great except the chicken and soup.
Family Dining Restaurant who's serving for almost 82 years. Quality and Quantity of food is top. The ambience and atmosphere are very good. Multiple food options available, especially on Starters and Sea Food.
Restaurant is premium one with good ambience. Both Ac and non available in 2 floors. Food is not that much Delicious as expected. Quality is good, quantity is less. Parking space available.
