The place looks iconic and very aesthetic as they have still maintained the old charm. Mentioning the items we had and their respective reviews-
1. Masala dosa- good crispy and masala was also nice.
2. Vada- Too good as very crispy and not that oily.
3. Porotta - it was fresh, hot and smooth.
4. Beef roast - very good, nice flavour and soft meat.
5. Chicken cutlet - even though chicken piece is rare the cutlet was good.
6. Coffee- this was the only item we had a bad review as it had a smoky flavour.
7. Black tea - good.
PS - porotta Beef combo highly recommended 🔥
Known for its spiral architecture, Indian Coffee House Thampanoor is one of the oldest hotels in Trivandrum. Usually congested. Takes time to get orders served because it's very busy. Customer service is good. Price is economical, but food quantity less.
Maveli Cafe, a branch of Indian Coffee House, offers a classic ambiance reminiscent of the old-world charm with its retro decor and vintage furniture. It has been a go-to spot for locals and tourists for decades.
The cafe is famous for its strong and aromatic filter coffee, which is a must-try for coffee enthusiasts. They also serve other popular South Indian beverages like masala tea, hot chocolate, and various refreshing cold drinks.
The structure of this Indian coffee house is distinctive from others. Masala Dosa and their cutlet are amazing. Apart from these they serve a decent biriyani with a good quantity and quality.❤️
This is an iconic place at Thamabanoor, Thiruvananthapuram. I always try to eat here whenever I visit Trivandrum.
This time I tried Chicken Biriyani. It was good. The authentic ICH taste. For those who are coming by car, parking can be an issue. However, if you are looking for a tidy place with good quality for a reasonable price, this can be one of your options.
Lauri baker’s unique architecture adds a zest like no other to this institution of a place. Absolute light on the pockets, moderately high on taste and bang on the buck for aesthetics. Whenever I visit Trivandrum, the visit isn’t complete without coming to coffee houses. This has to be one of the most unique coffee houses in India amongst a host of them which they have all over India. We tried their cutlets which were great, biryani which they do decently and an okay tasting coffee. It’s usually served mild, ask them to make it stronger.
By the Indian standard an interesting, clean and kind of must visit place. A round structure resembling a tower and 32 tables arranged in that manner...... Food to taste and prices to match....
Amazing Place Must Visit location when you are in Trivandrum. Staff is friendly, Good food & be ready for some ramp walking before you get something to relish😇
The architecture is beautiful. A spiralling structure that stands out. And the food is affordable. Wide variety of options, but my favourite is the classic masala dosa. Also, the cutlet. However, the snacks may not always be warm.
Located at a stone's throw from the Trivandrum station, this cafe is easy to spot since it has a unique structure and a dark brown exterior. I typically loved the way it's build wherein the tables are positioned adjacent to the outer walls and the path inside is spiralled all the way till the top like a lighthouse. The menu is limited though, but it covers most of the items from snacks till main course. The food is really tasty and the prices are really light on the wallet. One can expect to get a nice satisfying meal over here. My recommendations are to try the Chicken biryani, Medu vada and the dosas from here. Plus the service is quick and the waiters are really friendly( All the people who serve here have a typical outfit ). I had visited this place with my family and had a really great time.
P.S - It's really old, had started in 1990.
One of the prominent landmarks of Thampanoor-Thiruvananthapuram,where both central Railway station & Central Bus station are located,is the Indian coffeehouse designed by Laurie Baker. This Building, courtesy is pretty unusual has become one of the landmarks of Tvm.The entire building is conceived as a continuos spiral ramp, with a central circular service core and with dining spaces provided on the outerside.Bakers trademark jaalis to let light in and ventilation.
It has a less diversified menu for breakfast (no poori, no idly even)
I had ghee roast and tea, the dosa was tasty and tea which was okayish.
The hotel is wheelchair friendly.
When I first read about Laurie Baker, I wanted to visit this place... Food was decent and price is moderate... It seems like this place is always busy.... Definitely must visit for this Gandhian architecture.... I felt their coffee is good.
It's not for someone like vip these restaurant is for normal commuting customers.Services was very nice one of the staff was very professional which felt unique. Not as clean as you think.I ate from here for a whole day and i felt like this :-
Breakfast:- chappathi was very smooth and the curry with it felt really good but a bit expensive
Lunch:-Veg rice was also amazing with more veggies than usual felt that good too affordable too
But.....
Dinner:-ordered chicken Biryani wasn't good it felt a bit old like cooked in the evening and served in night that the only part i was disappointed and normal rate
Main thing you wont have any issue with the food which i usually have when i eat from restaurant felt like very much homely food.
