It is situated inside a lane from the main road. The security was very helpful to park inside the parking area. The staff are welcoming and well-behaved. We tried some of their specials, and it was nice. I think the restaurant is a refurbished old Kerala house. We went in the evening, and the lights and ambiance were great. The food cost is moderate, in line with the taste and service.
The food here is absolutely fantastic no matter what you order. I'm a huge fan of their chocolate cake , it just blows my mind. The ambience is also so relaxing. The servers are polite and efficient.
Had a great time here. A home turned cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Not on a busy street rather a bit inside so parking can be frantic at times. Support multiple types of crowd. Concise and delicious menu. Went in multiple times because the outdoor ambience is very pleasing especially on a sunny evening. Tried a main course dish chicken fricassee once and it was a delight. The saucy combination and the rice was in sync. Portion size however could improve for the price range.
Hosted a birthday party. The staff is very supportive and had a very good overall experience.
The quality and taste of food is commendable and the presentation of food is nice.
They have multiple indoor rooms and an outdoor space for candle light dinner. The ambience is very pleasant.
We went on a Sunday for brunch. One of the few places in trivandrum with an English breakfast option. The food, the service and the ambiance was nice . Very calm techno playing in the background and sitting in btw the trees and having brunch is a good feeling on a Sunday especially if you’re hungover. 😉

Nicest Owner and Staff Members!
The owner was at the entrance conversing with someone, humbly approached us as we parked, explaining that the kitchen was highly busy due to a sudden spike in customers just before our arrival. We were perfectly fine with waiting, especially since they had a small garden area in front with a koi carp pond.
While we waited, we placed our order. After a while, we were invited to the back of the restaurant, where they had set up an outdoor dining space illuminated with candlelight.
Here's what we tried:
CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP - 200

The Salad had a unique flavor, thanks to the inclusion of mint leaves and peanuts, in addition to the usual ingredients, complemented by a side of sliced watermelons. Normally, it comes with mango and a sprinkle of chili, which we thought would have been nice. Since it's out of season, it was replaced with watermelon which was good too.
The Steak came in a generous portion, accompanied by mashed potatoes and could easily be shared by two people, especially if you order a starter or a salad.
Visited the place for a family dinner. Nice ambiance, especially at night. It was raining when we visited and it really boosted the atmosphere. Service is really good. The place is really nice for couples to spend time together, especially the outside seating. Food wise, we had beef steak,chicken nuggets,kovalam salad,creamy tuscan chicken, and chocolate cake with ice cream. Regarding food i have mixed reviews, steak and cake were good. Cannot complain but could have been much better.
Beautiful fancy cafe. Of course the prices are on a higher side but that's what cafes are all about. It is a house converted into a cafe and beautifully decorated. The garden in front can cheer up your mind and when you reach the backyard where sitting arrangements are there, you will fall in love with this place. The washroom is also so fancy 😂 I just had tea there but there were many food options. It was a great visit.
I had the pleasure of trying several dishes at Velvet Dawn in Shasthamangalam, including chicken pieces, salad, French fries, and momos.
While the prices might lean towards the higher side, the taste and authenticity of all these dishes are truly worth it. Every bite is a flavorful journey, and you can feel the dedication to authentic flavors in each dish.
The great ambiance of the shop, with its cozy and inviting atmosphere, adds to the overall experience. If you're willing to treat yourself to a delicious and authentic meal in a pleasant setting, Velvet Dawn is the place to be, despite the slightly higher prices.
I rarely give 5 star reviews, but two things moved me to do so this time - the incredible atmosphere and the friendly smile of our server, Vishnu (as listed on our invoice). The food was very good, and I had been craving for a taste of a Swedish meatball ever since my trip to Stockholm - luckily Velvet Dawn had it as their special today! We also got grilled chicken, fricassee chicken and Swedish meatball, and it was all really great. Beverages ordered included mint lemon and mocha. We had a chocolate cake to complete the amazing dinner.
The atmosphere was truly remarkable - I felt as though I'd stumbled into a cozy restaurant in Prague or Madrid. I wish Velvet Dawn the best of luck and hope they maintain this fabulous atmosphere for future guests.
