Why does this say that this place is closed .. i went here on the 21st of Dec and it was hands down the cutest place i have been to at udaipur. It's not for you if you intend to eat traditional food of the state .. but this place makes homemade pasta and some really good food .. it's inexpensive and has a warm , multilingual staff

Verdict - Must Eat This

Pasta is wife's favorite and pesto is mine. So Pesto Gnocchi was an obvious choice. Gnocchi is pasta made up of flour & potato. This place is being run by Guenther Maria Norrenberg - a German guy in love with Udaipur. The food is amazing and the ambiance is unmatchable. Sit back, relax and let Udaipur embrace you.

P.S. - Their Baked Aubergine is also worth the try!

Happened to visit this cafe accidentally. We had planned our visit to Cafe Edelweiss and got to know that Savage Garden is a terrace cafe and a joint venture of the owner.

The food was ordered from Edelweiss but we had it on the terrace with a magnificent view of Lake Pichola.

This one is very beautiful and the decor is amazing, even though they have limited space. Blue coloured cushions add extra beauty!

This was the second time we had visited this restaurant in Us. It used to be at Chandpole earlier, way back in 2015 but they have now shifted to a different location and we stumbled upon the sign board out of nowhere. Zomato needs to rectify this.
The food is just excellent! I met their head chef this time and there is no way you can say by looking at him that this is the guy behind such tasty Italian dishes.
We had gnocchi, aubergine, banana cake and panacotta and there was nothing that we could point out which wasn't up to the mark. If you are looking for Italian food in Udaipur, this is the place to be!

Literally tucked away in the bylanes (with helpful signboards), I was recommended this place by a friend and I wasn't disappointed. The stark, modern yet warm interiors are of course the first thing that catches your attention. It can take a while to decide where to sit! I finally chose the sweet terrace. And I loved the pasta! And tried their pana cotta which was surprisingly good too. I would suggest this place for anyone who's looking for a proper dining experience after all the cafe hopping!

The place has changed since the change in address. It has lost its trademark blue colour and is now separated into high top floors with several stairs to climb. I wondered that the service must be quite tedious to cope up with having to climb so many stairs all day long.

Ordered ravioli which was just lacking a bit of seasoning. But as soon as you add that, the flavours burst open tantalising your taste buds. Good pasta and proper flavours just hit at the right spot.

Second order was chicken breast with cream sauce and rosemary potatoes. Honestly was expecting whole baby potatoes covered in rosemary and fat baked to perfection. But what I received was cut potatoes fried to perfection with just the right amount of rosemary. Suitable for an Indian tongue with a flair for flavours. The chicken breast itself was good, combined with the cream sauce it was just fabulous. A little bit on the drier side, but the flavours compensated for the wrongdoings.

Overall a good experience, not suitable for people with an Indian tongue. If you have a desire to try on international flavours and appreciate them then only visit the place. It will do you justice.

It's a pretty old joint..opened back in 2000 by a foreigner. Has just shifted it's location on 20th November. You need to be patient to find it. The ambience is very warm and cosy. We ordered Pasta Alfredo and Garlic Bread which were good.

Want the best Italian food in udaipur then u have to eat here

Savage garden has moved locations. Its in a corner so u will have to ask someone when ure near chandpole.

Finally after 6 months this restaurant has reopened in a new location with the same great food and even better ambiance.

The location is a little hard to find but the food is still amazing.

Only place in udaipur where you will find hand made pasta's. Everything is freshly prepared. We had the spinach and mushroom ravioli and pomodoro gnocchi. It was great as always.

Location 1/5
Ambiance 4/5
Food 5/5
Overall 4/5

We had a nice meal here- though it seemed to have changed locations and luckily a man we met on the street guided us to the new location.  The ravioli were freshly made and delicious, the bolognese was good and the chicken delicious!  they were out of parmesan cheese when we visited, which would have made the meal extra perfect!  The ambiance is delightful with little rooms and mirror mosaics and interesting paintings on the walls.

Prettiness pays. & so do you. A little expensive for the quality of food. But its one of the prettiest places around. So it kind of makes up for every thing else. A great place for some photography. Come here to feast your eyes. But the deserts are worth a try: pabba cotta & creme caramel. The later being the best

The place is in a small bylane away from the main action and in the residential area...the lane stinks of dirt and fresh cow patties....the approach of the place inside is awkward too with old rocky walls and simplistic wrought iron tables and chairs...there is no view ofcourse as its in a house.....the food is decent....international cuisine....but the service is horrible....the food took forever to come and the people responsible were not too concerned....so go only if you have a lot of time and just want something different to eat...

Well food was good but some of the recipes were ok. Aubergine recipe was good.
Good place to hangout.. I would recommend this for different experience.

All good things come in small packages.Suits very well to Savage Garden, not that it is small and all .. no no .. it is a huge property .. but the fact that it is not in a metropolitan but Udaipur And surrounded by all the local houses in a 'gali' And the owners being Deutsche And serving classic Mediterranean & continental food is totally beyond amazement.

Savage Garden certainly beats any of the fancy restaurants .. any given point of time.

Be it the classics like Mullingatawny Soup or the classical pasta dishes with the variety of pastas right from penne to tagliatelle, gnocchi to ravioli and then the quintessential's of the vegetarian Mediterranean cuisine - stuffed / roasted aubergines, stuffed bell peppers .. salmon fillet to Bombay prawns they are perfect in their own way.

The staff has been here for over a decade and they have perfected the art of making customers happy by serving some real quality meal. The only problem that a lot of us feel is that the food is a bit bland most of the times as there are never a lot of layers of flavours .. but can't fault the food to be honest guys .. it is how foreigners like their food and they absolutely love it here.

There could be a few issues with the beverages but most of their food should ideally be paired with some beer or a glass of wine which would complement the meal very well. Sadly they do not serve alcohol .. or do they :P
-----------------------------
So, the other day we had Tagliatelle all' Arrabiata - they could have given a little bread alongside to scoop the leftover sauce, the quantity was really nice. Overall the dish was alright, may be a bit of overload on the tomato sauce and required some freshly crushed black pepper.

Aubergine zi Ame - Halved and stuffed baigans (let us call them baigan hehehe .. aka brinjal, egg plant, aubergine) with celery, charred garlic, dash of thyme and parsley, pan fried in olive oil. The aubergines were to die for, although we made a mistake to order two dishes with almost the same basic sauce i.e. tomatoes and the person taking our order did not warn either :(

Savage Garden, to be honest, is one of the high points in Udaipur and should be certainly given a visit .. and by any chance if you do not like the food .. chin up and go again :P

Food is average. Go for the Italian stuff on the menu, and with the meat. Avoid spinach ravioli and hummus etc. the pastas were awesome, so we're the chicken and fried rice. Now to the best part, the ambience is lovely and go in for a change from the regular Indian food you will eat at udaipur. Tucked away in a small little lane, it simple and lovely for a lunch. Alcohol not served, but who knows? You might get lucky ;)

Visited this place recently on our Udaipur trip, nestled in small lanes of udaipur near chand pol is this restaurant. As you enter this place, it is all done up in blue, has a open verandah in between with a huge tree, spread across two levels. As the server at this place told us that restaurant is owned by a foreigner couple who are settled in Udaipur.

As there were no one other than us, we spent a good time here (close to 2 hours) clicking pics. We ordered Garlic Bread, Pasta Arabiatta and Cold Coffee which was good but the garlic bread came without cheese, then we ordered garlic bread with cheese and the server returned with raw grated cheese on the garlic bread. We tasted it and it was terrible we asked the waiter that why is this raw and not baked in oven and informed that the oven was not working, this was wiered as he could have told us earlier that oven was not working, we could have ordered an alternate dish. Anyways, overall I would say people visiting Udaipur and looking for Italian cuisine can visit this place and enjoy the place.

I went there with my girlfriend pleased to Lonely Planet. We had a wonderful dinner with a shared Chicken Wajid Ali, so yummy. The rooftop is very nice and has a beautiful view on the lake. Gokal welcomed so well, very nice guy, he speaks very well English and French. Highly recommended place.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at their roof top restaurant. The view at sunset was incredible. The employees - Gokul, Rajbar and Pankaj were extremely friendly. Gokul speaks French and a few other languages. So hosting is natural for him. We are visiting India from USA for three months. We will remember this experience for a long time.

As an Italian I almost never had the pleasure of tasting an authentic Italian food.. but this place make fresh pasta. And is simply delicious, also the Pesto was delicious. They didn't had the parmiggiano cheese but they had an amazing local cheese very tasty and salty.. with the pesto was a perfect combination. The brownie was amazing too.. everything is homemade and the owner is amazing.. thanks for this wonderful meal..

Best pasta in all India! Real homemade, both the pasta and the sauces. And I'm Italian, so I have pretty high standards! I've been a few times and was never a let down. Plus the owner, Gokal, is super nice and so is all the stuff actually. I'll be back for sure

Possibly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The food is great, and additionally, the server Gokul was absolutely sensational and made us feel incredibly looked after. Additionally the chocolate cake was stunning and possibly one of the best chocolate desserts I’ve ever had. I would absolutely highly recommend this place to a friend!

Good day. Am a Swiss with Italian roots. At first I just wanted to eat an apple cake and drink tea in the restaurant, the same as on the project a day before. This time the manager showed me his kitchen and the fresh pasta. My half Italian heart beat twice as fast at the sight. So I ordered the Tagliatelle Napoli and it was delightful. Highly recommended. :)

We dined here a couple of nights ago as my partner needed something which wasn't indian food. The pasta is very tasty and all homemade. You get views onto the river and at night all the tables are candlelit. The service was great, and they were very attentive.

I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner, I've been there for dinner and it was one of the best handmade pastas I've ever eaten here in India. Exquisite service and great customer service. The views are spectacular. If you want to have good pasta in Udaipur, come here, you won't regret it.
