A very small place run up a couple.. u have to wait for ur order as they serve freshly made idlis, dosa, and chocolate idli... The taste was normal but the cleanliness of the place was superb..
It's not an ordinary Dosa outlet, but heaven 😇 for foodies. A couple runs it, with sitting for mere 10-12people. While aunty is busy cooking, you can chatter with the uncle who will tell you enthusiastically about the Cafe. I have visited the place multiple times, never disappointed for once. Aunty is a master chef, and all the dishes she prepares are finger-licking 😋 My personal favourites are, 🤩🤩 Italian Uttapam, French Cheese Dosa and Manchurian Idli and Choco Truffle Idli, Gajar Halwa Dosa for Deserts.
It's a must-visit the place if you ever come to visit Benaras.
I love the choco idli and Manchurian idli one must visit this place it's the best place to eat and a good place to visit with family and friends.
They serve the best dosas in the town. Restaurant is small and clean. The food is delicious . I really recommend it!
Awesome south Indian food with huge selection of dosas, lovingly prepared and served. Small but clean. We had creamy paneer Dosa and French Dosa cooked in Desi ghee. Dosas were fresh n tasty . Would highly recommend.. 👍
In a nook on Dashashwamedh, Dosa cafe is quietly dishing up the best ghee roast dosas I’ve ever eaten. As a staunch hater of variety dosa I was skeptical When I saw the array of weird dosa combinations in the menu. But I’d heard so much about the place that I decided to give it a go. I ordered Spinach Potato Dosa and Mango Dosa and was not at all disappointed! I’d visit here everyday if I could. I didn’t think the prices were extravagant. The only downside is that it’s a quick eat-and-dash place and a hangout corner.
Located ~100 m from one of the most famous Dashaswmedh Ghat, Dosa Cafe is as good as a cafe can be.
I would not dare to miss this place if I ever visit Benaras again.
The best place to eat south indian-western fusion dishes at an Amazzzzzing price.
The Cafè can accommodate 8-10 people at a time but the taste is worth the wait.
We ordered Cheese Chili Onion Tomato Dosa, Chocolate Dosa, Tomato Onion Uttapam, Paneer Uttapam & Idli Brownie as a dessert for all of us.
Every dish amuses you with the taste and the western fast food adaption taken in account while preparing the feast.
Now what do I say, excellent place to have dosa, uttapam, idli.
Such a wonderful owner, and aunty cooks such wonderful items.
Sahi hi kaha hai "Haathon mein Kamal hai aunty ke"
You simply cannot miss out this place if you ever get a chance to visit Varanasi.
It is for such places people say, "Ye sheher galiyon mei basta hai". 5 minutes walk from Dasashwamedh Ghat, this small Cafe serves a variety of South Indian dishes. You'll find 50 different types of Uttapam, Dosa and Idli. Some of them are really creative.
Service is a bit slow as it's just a family of 2 operating from their house. Also, the place is small and can't accommodate many at once. The owner is very humble and tries his best to provide good service to the customers. Prices are a bit on the higher side but food is absolutely delicious.
My Picks - Choco Dosa, Cheese Onion Uttapam, Choco Truffle Idli
Overall-
Food - 4/5
Service - 3/5
Ambience - 3/5
Lovely food, lovely atmosphere, lovely host! I'd recommend the Italian uttapam and the chocolate dosa, what a fresh lovely concept, will certainly be coming back for more! ❤️
This place is a small Cafe in the busy lanes of Varanasi. I went there for the breakfast and was surprised to see the kind of menu they have. I chose to order cheese paneer spinach uttapam with a cup honey ginger lemon tea. Both of my orders satisfied me well enough. The uttapam was very delicious and made me full. I would surely recommend this place if you're a food lover and would definitely like to come back to this lovely Cafe.
Nice cozy place with a polite manager and the vegetable idly here is the healthiest breakfast you can have while roaming around Dashasumedh Road and you must try Dosa as well, I mean a little ghee is not gonna hurt you anyway.
You have definitely won me as one of your permanent customers and I would love to recommend your restaurant to my acquaintances. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was very soothing and relaxing. Beautiful interior and wonderful and accurately placed lighting system - neither too bright nor too dim make this place a perfect spot for celebrations. The taste of the food was just out of the world.
Allow me to say that you made me nostalgic as the food tasted similar to what my mother cooks for me back at home, though this made me miss my home and mother more!
Improve your quality of packaging material
On my food trip this happened to be one of most special experience. I had to visit 2-3 places more after trying it, but this was so good that I dint want to loose the taste I had here, so I decided to end my food trip on this sweet note.
Yes, sweet one, I mean both taste wise and experience wise.
Coming to my encounter with food, confused after reading the whole menu, but had to order just a single or maybe 2 items, as I went here after complete lunch meal from another restaurant. The best part is that they offer same food in four different choices of oil, choices in on you, Refined, Desi Ghee, Butter or olive oil.
But I choose the simpler way, I had a Choco Idli and a Rose Lassi. Why? Rose lassi because II needed something in drinks and read it on someone's review as well, idli because I thought dosa would be too heavy and and and there was written 'Chef Special' with its name. So the lassi was just fine, but all I want to talk about is Choco idli.
Idli was delectable, I loved it to the core, I so wanted much more of it. First the presentation was amazing, second it dint tasted like idli, it was a cake, a chocolate cake with everything in just right proportions. Its a must have people, believe me you ll love me for this.
Happy Eating :)

Incredible chocolate dosa & rose lassi (the best I've tried). The cafe is a real gem and the owner is so kind, courteous and dedicated. Wishing him all the best.
5 mins walk from the entrance of vishwanath temple and this small cafe serves different choices of dosas.
'bout the cafe, it's 4 tables, a few handmade cards to sell and a family of two making and serving dosas. Service is a bit slow as they would make it after the order is placed. Servings are decent sized, the cheese dosas are full of cheese but the sambars taste the same as the normal dosa-joints.
The pricings are on a higher side as they target the tourists, mainly foreigners with their experimental dosas and good location. Give it a one-time go if you're in Varanasi but this place is not worth your regular visit list. Bunk if you're on a budget.
Food was excellent, owner was very humble and it's pocket friendly, though sometimes you have to wait for order but it's worth waiting and visiting every time
This is my review on zomato, i am eating dosa and good test. If you people visit in this area pls test.
Service is good.
Food quality is good.
Chocolate dosa is special here. Tastes very good with honey. Rest other items are also good. But the space is congested. It is a bit difficult to find too in those narrow streets.
Dosa was fresh and simply pretty awsome, specially cheese masala dosa. Although the space is small but ambience is good. Its in the middle of a maze of lanes so please use your navigator!
Dosa Cafe is the quintessence of cafes situated in the dense alleys of Banaras.
Owned and operated by a warm couple, this place offers the base of authentic South Indian flavors coupled with unorthodox toppings and fusions.
We tried the Cheese Masala Dosa and Cheese Uttapam, both of which were delicious and filling. I have also been recommended the Chocolate Dosa by a lot of my friends who have been there. (Definitely trying it the next time)
It's a small cozy place with a capacity of 12-14 people, which might be the only bummer, on holidays. All in all,
Satisfying food ✓
Different ✓
Pocket-friendly ✓
PS: It's closed on Wednesdays. I learnt this the hard way.
A very cosy café with space for around 12 people at a time. It has a very homely feel to it. Since the café is run by a married couple where the aunty is the chef so they take a bit too much time on preparation.. Still the food is worth the wait.. Best fusion of south indian food i have tried till date. The only thing that disappointed me was the drinks- ice tea was bitter and soda lemonade was simply unimpressive.. But they have a large selection of items to choose from.. You'll not be disappointed. And they do no accept BHU id cards. It is also easy on the pocket. Do visit!!
maybe this saying great things come in small packages is what will defines this place.
amazing food experience
its near the main temple so location is a ++
now service it was a quick one for a food of this quality. its just one lady (wife of the man running this plce ) who makes all this so it requires time.. be patient the owner is a good man and will be more then happy to tell you about the places near and also of the town you are in.
its a real small place wid only three tables so u may have to wait for a while and that wud be worth it
french cheese utpam nd masala dosa are my fav and also the chai.
the owner was super humble!!
Good food, authentic taste. Try bonda and ginger lemon tea. If you eat spicy food then try cheese chilly dosa. Uncle who owns the place is very polite. Service is very good.
When we come back after ganga arti,, usually try this cafe...
Firstly,,,dosa of this place yummy...and pakode is also nice ...total desi type...nice place..keep it up
If you are in Banaras and haven't been to this place you are surely missing on something very good.
This restaurant can be difficult to locate the locals may be helpful.
This is a small little shop with a maximum sitting capacity of 10-12 people at the most. There is no waiter, Uncle is the cashier the one who serves and entertains the customer. Aunty takes the cooking. 2 people managing this place and yet serving the best of dishes.
We order Bonda , Banana Choco Dosa, Special Upma and Black Masala Tea.
Bonda was great Mashed potato stuffed and fried.
Upma was also good the Chatni was great with it.
We had doubt whether Dosa would be good. But all our doubts disappeared with the first bite of the dosa. Well stuffed and well served with Honey and Coconut chutney.
This is different from all other place. Uncle is friendly. It is within the budget of a student. And a place which is worth visiting.
P.S. If you are not a Chocolate lover take a Banana Choco it has less chocolate stuffing in it nd tastes great.
This place is quite and homely with uncle and Aunty are too good to share a word with. This place is for passionate foodies who love south Indian food in this northern part of India. The matrices of menu and the experimental varieties of idly dosa uttampam, Will definitely flatter your taste buds. Do try their idly chocolate truffle topped with vanilla ice cream(desert) .
After an exhausting day walking through the heavy rain, we finally ended up in this cozy restaurant.
It is a bit hard to find but its well worth it if you feel like having a crispy Dosa filled with a variety of ingredients.
Try the cheesy Ratatouille! Great option and mouth watering taste

Great food and very gentile man.
Good environment next to a very agitated area.
Try the amazing dosas with tomato, cheese and onions and the veg mix.
This place is run by a couple. The wife cooks all the food and the husband attends to the customers. They are very nice people. I did not know how much can be done with dosa and uthapam. The chocolate dosa is a delight. Apart from that they have dosa and uthapam with Italian flavor. The food is cooked with care and served with pleasure.
Slow service but good enough food. They serve many varieties of dosas which you certainly not find in any other eatery in Varanasi. Must try atleast once!
Chocolate dosa was delicious, Italian uttapam was good. Slow service disappoints. Very hot in summers, small shop, no AC. Must try once. :-)
Glad to visit this nice, small and difficult-to-locate restaurant in one of the bylanes of Varanasi. Worth a visit. Creamy Mushroom Uttapam and cheese Masala Dosa were too good. Ayurvedic tea was refreshing. Worth a visit if you are at this location.

Fantastic food. It's a small shop and run by a couple. Food is made fresh once ordered. Make sure you have the time to enjoy the food. I Loved the cheese masala Dosa and the chocolate idli with ice cream was fabulous.
I'll definitely be coming here again whenever I visit Varanasi. Best Dosa I've had in the North.
It's located in a small alley. Just follow your map or ask around if you can't find it.
Been there and it was awesome although u find difficult to locate it but it is worth to find, their dosa's are too good had tried cheese masala dosa and I m lovin it
El local es pequeño y la atención un tanto lenta, pero su comida es muy rica y a buen precio. El potato spinach Dosa estaba demasiado sabroso y con un leve y grato picor.
Not a fan of their French dosa but I loved every bite of their creamy mushroom dosa. For dessert we ordered choco truffle idli with ice cream which is one of their really tasty innovative dishes.
Day 3 lunch was a muted affair as we had been having a lot of food, and we decided to check out Dosa Café in one of the by-lanes. The place is quite famous among the foreign tourists, and serves up a variety of stuff like Italian Uttapam, Strawberry Dosa and Chocolate Idli. We started with a Sweet Corn Soup that was savory. Then, we went for a simple Cheese Masala Dosa and an experimental Paneer Uttapam, and both were super tasty.
Ok this my second visit while in transit to my place of work. The menu has been expanded a bit and is as innovative as before...I mean mixed fruit, choco, strawberry, mango, carrot halwa, mixed veg noodles..And these are just the dosas. There is manchurian idli too. Quality and taste is still top notch. And as usual light on the pocket. This time it was mushroom cheese dosa, lime soda and truffle idli. All for 240 rupees and the same homely taste. Trust me this place is a must visit. And yes I had almost similar items as before, but I promise next time it will be different. I wish this place remains like this for long.
This was my first visit. Innovative south Indian cuisine. Run by owner couple. Wednesday closed. I went there for two things...cheesy options and chocolate truffle IDLI...had a wonderful south indian pizza(cheese mushrooms utthappam) and the IDLI. Awesome!!!! Will return soon to try more items. And its hygienic and very light on pocket too. Must visit !!!
Varanasi TA #2 is Dosa Cafe. It was a quiet evening and slightly chilly. From the inside seats you can see locals, tourists and cows wander past. It's an unsual restaurant in that it specialises in lots of different types of street foods. Each type of street food has a lot of different options from basic to what I can only describe as attempted fusion.
Do not go for the ambiance, just concentrate on the dishes served at the small shop, taste and quality will never disappoint you, Do not forget having Choco-truffle idli, unique of its kind.
Amazing place! You can try their every dish as every dish has a new taste to offer your taste buds! I recently tried their Cheese masala Dosa cooked in ghee, Chocolate Dosa cooked in butter, Cheese onion Uttapam and Chocolate Idli with Vanilla Ice-cream as dessert. It was superb! A must place to go in Varanasi.
Well, I fell in love with this place when I first went there. I had a knack of trying new recipes and dishes. Dosa Cafe is the place where you must eat atleast once in your lifetime. I wonder if they offer such a variety of dosas anywhere else in the world. They provide sitting space for around 15 persons. And yes, like most of the awesome places in Varanasi, this one also is hard to locate.
Shortlisted this place before visiting Varanasi and it was worth the effort.
Nice, small cafe and the food was really interesting.
Had an italian uttapam and it was pretty good. Something new and different.
Their sambar was quite different from what we've generally eaten in Delhi or Bangalore and it was good. Ordered an onion dosa and idli as well.
Best thing about this cafe was the location and the feel of this place. Nice and cozy, right next to the Dashaswmedh Ghat.
I suggest that you go for a late lunch around 4 and relax here and eat some unique dishes for an hour+ and then go experience the beautiful Aarti at the ghat.
Also, you must interact with the owners of this cafe. Respect for them for how they are managing this cafe.
This modest cafe lives upto its name at various travel sits. The tiny place has taken a fantastic twist to the traditional south indian cuisine by making it suitable for international tastes. I tried French uttapam and it is perhaps the best uttapam I've had.
What make this place special is the down-to-earth nature of the owners. The couple manages the place between the two of them and are wonderful to chat. I sincerely hope such restaurants expand to other location. Such food needs to be served.
Con: Ambience isn't great, place suitable for a quick bite.
Amazing south Indian food with traditional favorites (like vada sambar and masala dosas) plus some unique variations (French dosas with ratatouille, chocolate truffle idly). Everything is amazing. I like that you can choose to have the dosas cooked with soybean oil, butter, ghee, or olive oil (at a premium).
They say Benaras is at the crossroads of modernity. Well, this place exemplifies that. Its amazing how a dosa can be tweaked, just the right amt, to cater to so many tastes. This place retains the quintessential south Indian flavors of the dosa, sambhar and chutney but also incorporates refreshing dressings, fillings to give it a wonderful twist of taste. Be it the comforting masala dosa, the Italian dosa stuffed with exotic ingredients or the banana-honey chocolate, yes you read that right, dosa- everything is traditional yet suave. This place also serves other southindian delicacies like uttapam,vada-sambhar, idli along with chillers and soft drinks. I tried the italian dosa, cheese onion uttapam(pick of them all) and their signature chocolate dosa and was completely satisfied after the meal.
This place in the narrow alleyways of the daswasamedh ghat is an outdoor dining gem. The owners of this place run this place out of sheer love for food and that's what you are filled with after a meal here.
First trip to Varanasi, there are few places with reviews however Dosa Cafe was a very pleasant surprise. The cafe is quite small, with only three tables but the manager and his wife are very kind and helpful. The food does take a while to arrive but this is primarily due to the fact that each meal is prepared when you order and not before. So everything is freshly made as it arrives at your table. We particularly enjoyed the Chocolate truffle Idli which came with a scoop of ice-cream and was still hot from being freshly baked. Also worth trying the Tomato, onion, cheese Uttapam, or "Indian pizza"
Located in a small lane with 3 tables lying around gives you an impression that all the reviews about the restaurant are hyped and nothing else, but....
First things first, it is NOT a proper restaurant in the true sense of word but a small family run establishment.
Service is a little late, but that may be due to the owner insisting that everything is freshly made AFTER you place you order, unlike a normal restaurant, quality of food is very good and is served hot,and most important thing that I felt was that despite the small place, the owner doesn't make you hurry up and finish your meal so that other customers can be accommodated but rather actually says enjoy your food even if there is a small crowd outside the shop eyeing you angrily so that you notice them and gobble your food fast and get out.
All in all, a very good experience.
Thanks to all the travel sites there was no way I was leaving Varanasi without visiting this Internet marvel. Among the top 5 places to eat in all the major travel site this tiny 8 feet by 12 feet restaurant is located inside a street next to dashashwamed Ghat steps.
Wall paper on the wall , this eatery has 3 round tables with four plastic chairs each and a smallish counter for the owner.
The menu offers some unconventional takes on all time South Indian favourites , the Dosa , idli , vada and the uthapam. The main in ovation is that you can choose what your dish is cooked in , the regular refined soya bean oil , butter , desi ghee or olive oil , of course at different price points. The menu also includes a innovative description of the above dishes.
The owner / server did not look as friendly as described in so many other reviews , maybe he saves that facet of his personality for the foreign tourist , not wasting it on Indians. :)
Jokes aside , I started my mid day meal with a plain Idli Samber ( ₹ 30/- ) . It took its time in getting served , but guess that was because unlike most South Indian / udipi joints , they freshly steam there idlies. Nice. The accompanying Samber was just ok and the coconut chutney , rightly tempered with cummins , was too hot for my taste but the idlies were actually nice and soft , slightly odd shaped and not allowed to sit after they came out of the steamer so just slightly undercooked , but guess that was due to the owners haste to serve them , still I would rate these a good 3.5/5 , and coming from someone with a Shetty wife and mother in law , believe me that is a very high score for any restaurant steamed idly.
Followed this up with a order of Mixed veg Dosa , cooked in refined Soybean oil ( ₹ 100/- ) which was described in the menu as Crispy Plain Dosa Stuffed with farm fresh vegetables marinated with very light spices. The dosa came out folded in a triangle and looking all nice. One bite into it and all the cynicism vanished , though not really thin , it was super crisp , cooked the right shade of golden , and the filling was just what was promised , lightly spiced crunchy farm fresh stir fried vegetables and more surprise , in addition to the Samber and chutney that accompanied the idlies there was an additional lighter coloured coconut chutney which was not as spicy as the first one. The owner asked me twice if I needed extra chutney or Samber . A very satisfying meal .
I will defiantly come back some time if I am in the area and do I recommend it ? Well I found it overpriced in relation to its location and food offered , but surely worth a visit.
Here I have a request to all visitors to , and the food lovers of , Varanasi , this defiantly can NOT be a top choice food destination to the city , so please be more proactive in sharing your food secrets so visitors like me can go back with a taste of authentic Banarasi Khanna.
ENJOY
The food is delicious specially the chocolate dosa... It is worth a visit........... Although the place is not big but the food is beyond compare from any restaurant.
One hell of a delicious ride...!! I tried masala dosa and it was supa great....awesome..... loved it as whole! Situated within the narrow lanes of the city.. the place is difficult to find but once u get into it and taste their chocolate dosas and idlis u don't want to leave it..! Visit it.
I cane to know about this cafe from reels and I'm glad I wasn't disappointed but came out as a fan. This cafe is small with only 3 tables but the ambience, peace and food will make you wander.
One must not miss dosas or every dish on their menu is just amazing and mouth watering. This cafe is often visited by foreigners and travellers and they all leave with a smile.
This cafe is run by a sweet family and uncle, aunty here are really sweet and gives you homely vibe.
I will definitely recommend this place if you are visiting Banaras. You should try it and will become a fan of this place.
Don't miss cheese masala dosa.
Best Dosa we had (so far) in four weeks north India! Super lovely host and amazing variety of heart filling Dosas! a must in Varanasi. We had spinach mushroom, masala cheese, chocolate banana and Uttapam.
Lovely place with truly amazing food! They have a variety of food to choose from, also the teas are excellent. The waiter was very nice and quick.
The cutest thing that happened when we were eating there is that a cow stopped by and the waiter gave her the food waste. We loved it!
Small restaurant with excellent food, very clean, sweet owners. We loved all three of the doses we got… Some of the best we’ve ever had! They also have excellent ginger, lemon, honey tea. Highly recommend!
Great restaurant with a wide variety of dosa and uttapam, some of which are non traditional but still very tasty. The chocolate dosa is fabulous with a perfect amount of chocolate.
So the place is good
The location is good as well ..but it is a bit cramped ..as you expect
The place was hard to find as well
We had chocolate dosa which was way too good for me
The place has a low seating capacity but the thing is place is not crowded ..so it was easy to find a seat
Super cozy place, best stuffed dosas I’ve had, nice fresh ingredients and you can choose your preferred cooking oil (highly recommend ghee). Sweet owner and the place is very very clean :)
We could only come here once on the last day of our time in Varanasi. It was an excellent meal with chilled authentic interior. Would go back any time! If you are looking for Dosa this is the best choice.
If you are roaming around dasasawamedh ghat and want to have some South Indian cuisine this is a must visit cafe. You will get wide varieties of Dosas and other South Indian food but the Dosas are just wow. I recommend everybody to try Choco idli truffle that is something you would take along from the journey to Varanasi.
A person from Mumbai was turned off by what he/she felt about the service and attitude. I usually go to restaurants for the food and not a waitperson's attitude. Yes, friendly is better, but go, eat your food, dine, enjoy and smile at him and see what happens. The dosas are excellent and it's a small place with four tables, but the food is worth a visit.
