I went there recently after reading some very good reviews about the place. I must say i was not at all disappointed. It has some of the most authentic and fabulous continental delicacies to eat. I would like to add the owner of this place is very polite and helpful. Love this place and looking forward to visit again.

Warmest place I have ever been to. The owner is a genuine soul and always has something special to add to our orders. One of the few places in Varanasi where I took my girlfriend for dates during our first few months into the relationship. We were being ourselves, buzzing with newfangled love, the delightfulness, the shyness and the stupidity... Guess the owner noticed and gave us a discount of 10%... marking this restaurant as a place where I discovered my 'bread of life'... we are 4.5 years strong now... and the thought of the amazing food and memories here always does spark a pleasant twinkle in our eyes... we are coming again on the 23rd this month... :)

Food - Inexpensive and not spicy. Definitely, something a lot of foreign tourists look for that kinda food. Overall, the chicken is specially very tender and juicy.

Ambience - Good. Considering the location, it is pretty decent.

Smoking Area - for those who wanna enjoy a smoke with your breakfast - you can get it here.

The continental food variety and the owner being a bengali - it's pretty cool for a foodie from bengal.

I've been to this restaurant since 2001, when it was run by an American who had helped set it up. This was the only place where you could get authentic western cuisine in Varanasi, except the Taj hotel, and it used to attract several westerners. Between 2000-2002 was the best time for this place, and thereafter it has gradually become more run down as I've seen on my occasional visits every two years. Their menu has also shrunk and service times have become longer as staff shortages continue. But what hasn't changed is that whatever they offer - from club sandwiches to chicken stroganoff - you get it better than almost any other restaurant in town. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find western cuisine in Varanasi where most restaurants are small North Indian-cuisine eateries or Indianized Chinese joints. Bread of Life's desserts are good too - particularly the brownie and baked cheesecakes. I hope the current management is able to keep the place running and continue to attract the western tourists who must be relieved at finding their kind of food. I recommend visiting if you like western cuisine.

Went there for some desserts with dad and my sister. We had Chocolate cheesecake and it was super yummy. It melts in your mouth the moment you have it. Must try for all the people who are on a food trip to varanasi.

Quaint little bakery/restaurant. It has a homely feel to it... expansive menu... was not really expecting it. All the items are reasonably priced. The person who runs it is very friendly. I was a little disappointed with the drinks (hot chocolate and soda and lime) but their veg baked pasta was seriously gud... give it a try
Plus there is BHU discount 😉

Value for money!
A calm secluded place in the chaos of Varanasi
Good food. The person who runs the place scores it all on the service. With a smiling face, he surely knows how to treat customers.
A trait best of places in varanasi don't possess.

I would sincerely advice people from varanasi to visit it once.

Food: They serve Chinese,Western and Indian food. I've had American Pancakes with maple syrup for the breakfast. They also have French Toast, skillet breakfast,Pies etc for the breakfast.

I've had Shahi Paneer and Butter Naan for the lunch. Its the best butter naan I've ever had(not exaggerating) and Shahi paneer was very creamy, soft and perfect.

I've had Spring Rolls,Paneer Hakka Noodles for the dinner.

They also serve Pizza, pasta, desserts(La Tiramisu is my favourite) etc.

I am delighted with the delicacy of their dishes and I would Recommend a friend to dine at this place if they visit Varanasi.

Service: The service was good. The people were humble.I was served by Ashish. He is friendly and cheerful.

Ambience:The place was peaceful and has decent seating. There are some paintings to look at,if you enjoy watching paintings. There is even an outdoor seating. I saw a lot of foreigners there. I also got a chance to practice my Spanish with two Argentinians I met there.

The prices are modest.A meal for two would cost about 300 INR.

Located at the most isolated point, this is one place that should not be missed by gourmets visiting city. Try out Pasta Carbonara and Tagliatelle al Tono. A perfect value for money place.

It was purely by chance that I ended up at this place for dinner yesterday. Using google maps , I was looking for another , top rated on Zomato , restaurant . During that search , I passed in front of this place twice , with not so inviting front , at least twice . The entrance was not inviting , and the view from outside was of a wood and glass display case with some breads and bakes in it , but the unsual name did catch my fancy. So after being unable to locate the place I was looking for and feeling hungry , I decided to walk into the NEW Bread Of Life.
The gentleman behind the counter , who also takes the orders and serves on the tables , graciously held the door for me. And the first thing that struck me was the friendly and welcoming aura of , both the place and this gentleman and the arty ambiance of the place .
Seating myself on one of the 8-9 tables , placed At a comfortable distance from each other , with some kind of soft trance / meditation music playing in the background , I noticed that I could look into the kitchen from the place I had chosen and it looked reasonably clean . I could even see the cook inside chop vegetables fresh for each order , another plus. They also have an outdoor / smoking area with 2 two sweater tables placed there . With a checkered floor , some hanging lamp shades and basic seating , this place can sure do with some brightening up.
Now to food. I started with a Minestrone soup , which took its time in coming , but that was ok as on the menu itself they had mentioned that due to all orders being prepared fresh they needed time to be served. The soup had a fresh tangy taste and was steaming hot , generously garnished with crisp fresh vegetables , cauliflower , carrots , capsicum and macaroni. A most delicious start. For the main , I took the advice of the gentleman from the counter , who informed me that being an Indian , he preferred the Chinese preparations there. So being an Indian myself (:)) I took his advice and ordered an American Chopsuey. In contrast to the soup which was served in a wide bowl , this one came in a much smaller bowl making me suspicious of the quantities . But my suspicion was unfounded , cause on digging in I discovered that unlike the Chopsuey's that I am used to , which have a tonne of crispy noodles on the base and barely enough sauce topping it ,this one had the right amount of the fried noodles covered with ample sauce , which again was lodes , yes that is the word , with delicious veges and a very generous helping of the meats. What made the sauce stand out for me , were the tangy bits of pineapple cooked into it. Again very satisfying , with one fault , the half fried egg topping the dish was majorly over cooked , instead of a liquid gold center , it had a very cooked solid one.
Both the above dishes along with a bottle of water for â‚č 265 /- all inclusive , was surely a value meal.
So my final word on the joint , nice , fresh , hearty and wholesome food prepared Hygienically at a reasonable ( maybe not so by Varanasi standards ) price , totally VFM served in a pure setting.
So will I be going there today or tomorrow ? The answer unfortunately is no , and it in no ways reflect on the quality of the restaurant . I am only visiting the town for 3 days and would like to sample more flavours which are local and the food here , though wholesome can get boring. But had I been staying longer I defiantly would have dropped in periodically for a delicious meal. So not a must visit but am sure if you are there you will love there hospitality .

Enjoy

The owner is the sweetest man on the planet. He'll certainly make you smile. The food and bakery are delicious. I returned to try more foods and baked goods and to buy some for my train ride. It's a small team, so food might take about 20 or so minutes to prepare, but it's worth it. This restaurant/cafe is a little oasis. A must-visit breakfast spot in Varanasi. I recommend the skillet or any eggs. From the bakery, I recommend the muffins, cookies, or chocolate croissant. Tea and coffee are excellent as well.

This restaurant was so good that I had to revisit this place multiple times. The food here was amazing, economically priced and the portions were enough to satisfy 1 person. The best part about this restaurant is their staff, very friendly and professional. I really enjoyed talking with them. And the owner was an absolute gem person. After having some chat with the wonderful owner, I got to know that his family lived in Bangladesh (East Pakistan) and moved to India post or pre partition. Quite a fascinating story it was. And regarding the food, I tried their Chinese dishes, chana masala and roti, apple pie and hot chocolate & lemon tea (not available on the menu, but owner customised it personally for me), and their fish fry. All of them were excellent. The food is freshly cooked, so there is a big wait time, so you gotta have patience. And the old wooden chair and table ambience gave me the vibes as if I'm sitting in a Parsi or Irani cafe.

A friendly little place with a mighty menu. New Bread of Life was recommended by our hotel a few doors down. We thought, “Why not?” since we could almost fall out of our hotel’s lobby into the restaurant, and we were feeling particularly lazy about battling scooters for walking space to anywhere much farther. I wasn’t looking for the best paneer butter masala I’ve ever had, but I found it here. Perhaps this is blasphemous, considering the dish’s Delhi origins. I did have it at one of the places in Delhi that is believed to have invented it; theirs was good, but not as good as this, in my opinion. New Bread of Life’s chef is definitely their secret weapon. His fried rice is excellent. We had the corn soup flavored with ginger—also excellent. We tried the fresh-baked apple pie—excellent. We liked everything enough to return multiple times over the course of our week in Varanasi. The owner and staff really give you the feeling they’re happy to have you as their guest—this is while you’re sitting there eating, for a pittance, some of the best-tasting dishes anyone has possibly ever prepared for you.

IG: whereiswendy Went to visit this bakery a few times for breakfast and brunch. It’s a cozy old place that looks like it’s an old house converted into a bakery/restaurant. The menu is simple. We ordered a vegetarian dishes, fried rice and tandoori roti. It was really tasty! The food itself was delicious, but the portion was very small for the price point. If you come here starving, you’ll have to order two or maybe three dishes. The bakery part of this shop had very few options, not sure if they bake on a different day of the week, but they only had brownies cupcakes, cookies and the apple pie. I ordered the chocolate cupcake and again, super! They even warm it for you. The owners were really sweet, helpful and cheerful. Always had a big smile on their faces. Very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, I would recommend this and would love to visit again.

I had visited this place on a breezy Sunday, I had been thinking of going to the place for a long time cause my best friend has suggested it to me. The place is easy to find. I visited this place on a breezy Sunday with my brothers. The place is a little shaddy in the winters but natural sunlight changes the aura of the restaurant/cafe. While we were there , we were served by the manager , who was a very sweet man , probably in his early or mid 50s. While ordering he helped us giving us some recommendations, and for every dish we ordered he had asked us for our specific preferences. We visited the place looking for a warming breakfast. We ordered a variety of things , like skillet breakfast, egg royale ,American pancakes , French toast, eggs(fried, boiled) and for beverage we ordered hot chocolate and filter coffee. The dishes arent priced High, it is very much affordable and the food is worth the price The breakfast gave us absolute satiety. I would recommend checking with them a day before if they have a particular bread/dish/bakery item (that you want) available with them. And you can also ask them to get it prepared. I would highly recommend this place for a warm breakfast.

We had freshly cooked American pancakes and skillet breakfast. Food was tasty and filling. The owner has been running the business for more than 25 years. We surprisingly found this place serving authentic food in Varanasi. They have art gallery as well which is closed due to COVID situation.

Quite a philosophical name it has. Jokes apart, this place is a really nice place to try continental foods in Varanasi. It's located near Ravindrapuri. The owner and the employees are all Bengalis, and as a fellow Bengali, that place is really quite attractive for me. Now the food. As it is a bakery, the confectionery items are quite good. Specially the Apple pie. The crust is just perfect, and the filling has a storng cinnamon kick to it. Next I would recommend their Cheesecake, it was really soft and mildly sweet. And also try their Chicken Sizzler. And try to wrap the Lettuce / cabbage leaf with little bit of everything (chicken, veggies, potato Fry's , sauce (the given gravy) and tomato and the smokey apple. And the eat the warp as a whole. It will feel incredible.
