The Grand Thakar is a culinary gem nestled in the heart of the city. From the moment you step through its ornate wooden doors, you are transported to a world of exotic flavors and aromas. The décor is opulent yet understated, with deep red walls, dark wood accents, and twinkling chandeliers setting the mood. As you're escorted to your table by the impeccably dressed staff, the scents of cardamom, cinnamon, and cumin tickle your nose, whetting your appetite for the feast to come.
Once seated, take a moment to admire the menu, an enticing collection of authentic Indian dishes ranging from fragrant biryanis to complex curries bursting with layers of spice. The knowledgeable waitstaff guide you through the options, offering thoughtful recommendations based on your tastes. Appetizers like crispy samosas and chili paneer arrive piping hot at the table soon after ordering. The chef's artistry shines through in every bite, harmonizing flavors and textures in perfect balance.
For the main course, the lamb vindaloo sings with the heat of chiles and vinegar, cooled by the creamy naan and aromatic basmati rice. The rogan josh is melt-in-your-mouth tender, its ruddy sauce rich with aromatics. Every dish is made with care and skill, elevating classic recipes with modern flair. Portion sizes verge on the enormous, so pace yourself. Save room for the dense, syrup-soaked gulab jamun or fragrant mango kulfi to end your meal on a sweet note.
From start to finish, the Grand Thakar offers an unforgettable tour of authentic Indian cuisine. Exquisite flavors, refined service, and elegant atmosphere come together to create an exceptional fine dining experience. This is one restaurant that should be on every food lover's must-try list.
We had the best Gujarati Thali here. The owner was present with us and made sure we ate more than we could. They literally served us food like at home.
Service was excellent. Staff was very warm and was more than willing to fill your cups to the brim.
Everything in the Thali tasted great. This would be the place to go for Gujarati Thali if you are in Ahmedabad. We tried one by the name Mandap in Vadodara and were quite disappointed. We came to believe that Gujarati Thali itself is not meant for us ( South Indians ). But this restaurant made sure that Gujaraati Thali sits on the top of our list now.
Definitely recommended ✅

There are so many options in Ahmedabad for Gujarati Thali but one of my favourite restaurants for it is The Grand Thakar. I visit there often with family, friends, colleagues & clients. I once again visited there today and had ultimate dinner. Due to heavy rush on all the 7 days, the place becomes a bit congested, but I love their food so no complaints.
