We visited this place for a Sunday lunch.
It is a typical Andhra style restaurant with a decent family-friendly ambiance.
I ordered the following:
#Soup- Munakai soup (Lentil and Drumsticks Soup) - The spiciness was a sweet surprise. Loved it.
#Srarters:
1. Chilli Paneer- Paneer was soft. The spicy kick took it to another level.
2. Babycorn 65- Cripsy, crunchy and delicious.
3. Mushroom Masala.
#Main Course:
1. Ragi Sangati (Ragi mudde Andhra style)- I am not a fan of Ragi mudde but this was not bad. I actually liked it. But I couldn't swallow it without chewing (that's how it's actually supposed to be eaten) as it was a little dry.
2. Jawar roti- soft and tasty.
3. Jeedepappu iguru ( Cashewnut curry)- Although it was supposed to be spicy it was not. It was sweet and lacked flavour.
4. Spinach Dal onnethe- Absolutely delicious. It was served with rice and like of ghee which turned out to be a heaven of flavours. Simple yet classic.
5. Veg Biryani- Good.
#Drinks:
1. Bonda Sherbet (Tender Coconut, honey and mint) - Refreshing. Right amount of sweet. And healthy too.
2. Sweet n Salty lime soda
#Desserts:
1. Khubani Ka meetha (Apricot in traditional Andhra style)
2. Gajar Ka Halwa - Not bad but too sweet for my taste.
Service took more than reasonable time.
Staff and management is courteous and attentive to needs of all the customers.
OVERALL TAKEAWAY- The food is not too spicy so it is a very good option for the people who avoid Andhra food.
Andhra food always finds favour with my palate. A recent visit to Akshara at Residency road and here's my review of the veg fare I had.
Munakai (Drumstick) soup - Spicy and flavoursome. Even though I wasn't in the mood for soup, I couldn't stop sharing it from my friend's bowl!
The starters are their usual spicy fare. Baby corn 65 was especially good. Chili Paneer was OK.
The Bonda sherbet, made with tender coconut was quite refreshing.
Moving on to the main course, Ragi sangati (ragi mudde Andhra style) was my favourite.
Jowar roti was soft, the jeedi pappu iguru or cashews in gravy was Ok. Their spinach dal onnthe other hand was too good. I believe that's served as part of their thali.
Speaking of thali, the portion is good and has a good combo of items to suit your palate.
Desserts - Khubani ka meetha and gajar halwa were just OK and a tad too sweet for me.
Overall, I liked their offerings for the spice and flavours. Would definitely come back to check out their thali again.
