Was my first time at Pecos which has a reputation of being one of those iconic, must visit places in Bangalore. Must say it did not disappoint on any count.
Located in an alley on resthouse road, winding stairs lead you up to three floors of seating. The menu is well-stocked but not extensive; there's beer too.
My friend and I shared a pepper fry pork (which was excellent) and beer and an iced tea. They had no hot beverages on the menu, so I asked for an ice tea without ice. I also confirmed if they had nothing hot to drink. They said no. And I repeated the ice tea without ice a few times and the waiter, a little perplexed smiled and said he would see what could be done. They brought me back warmed up tea which basically tasted like nimbu chai. Absolutely loved that move and made the service seem better than it already was.
Lastly, the paintings on the wall, colour scheme of the place, lighting all set the tone which is finally bolstered by the rock music playing there. Amazing stuff. Takes you right back if that's the kind of stuff you used to listen to earlier -- led zep, Deep purple, Kansas and the likes. 5 out of 5 on all counts; will go back again
Kind of nastalgic, I remember roaming around this area long long time ago and the pubs used to be like this unlike the modern ones all over Bangalore now. They have three floors, first two floors are a bit dark and it's not very nice to sit there. Went up to the 3rd which is covered with Mangalore tiles with fans. When we entered there was no power therefore it was a bit warm inside. After a while power back and things where much better... The place had mostly young crowd and the highlight is the food. We started with egg pakoda/bonda, it was crispy and amazing. Followed by chicken bite, coorgi pork and some masal peanuts, all old school and tasted pretty good. Highlight is the dosa , you can order any curry, we went with chicken curry, it was pretty good. Service here is really amazing. It's a old school (very old) pub, needs bit of maintenance, folks who are used to the modern brewery may not like it however if you are open to trying different stuff and like amazing food, this is a must try one.
Was looking for something authentic and found it. Was recommended to Pecos by a friend. He said it's a place if good food and great music, was not disappointed. We order masala peanuts, pork tacos and beers. Everything was delicious. Definitely looking forward to going back to this gem of a place
