The fish thali was great . I loved the fish mackerel . It's was properly cooked. The fish curry was also good . They served us tandoori roti with it which was kinda different . I didn't expected mustard sauce when they served it with the French fries . The food was too good . ❤️
As the name suggest its a curry house so feel free to order curries from here, one of the well-known places here falls on the way to Aguada fort. the ambiance is nice and open serves alcohol and good food, we ordered for veg sizzler, chicken lasooni tikka and few drinks overall the service food and beverage were good and sufficient for 4 of us and the bill was also pocket friendly, the place looks vibrant during evening with all the jazzy lighting and funky music. the afternoon was a bit dull however evening looked promising (as we were on our way to our apartment and saw the place)
I am surprised at the current rating, The Curry House on Fort Aguada Road has been averaging at.
While parking can be a quite a risk and challenge here, there are ample lanes and by-lanes at perpendiculars to this road near the restaurant that accommodate parking under a shady banyan or two.
This is my second visit to the restaurant, my last being approximately 5 years ago but not much has changed.
The ambience, the music, the food, the prices, the service... They all continue to remain the same... inviting and warm.
The street is quite deserted and void of traffic at this hour, punctuated only by a car or a bike or two. The interior is very cool and the soft pop in the backdrop only adds on to the lovely afternoon ambience.
My daughter has her standards and choices quite set and initiates her meals with a Cream Of Chicken Soup (₹100) which turns to Sweet Corn Chicken (!!??) when it is placed in front of her. Well she likes it anyway so we do not take anyone to task.
She has also opted to share a Balti of Butter Chicken (₹280) and Jeera Fried Rice (₹150) with her mother. The Butter Chicken is well prepared and extremely tender. The taste is a far cry from the preparation I have tasted back in my home city and less sweeter and thus complimenting very well with the Jeera Rice which again is a far cry from the Maharashtrian version. This also had a mild flavour of turmeric.
My son and I give the good old beer a miss and settle for a Coke (₹30) to quench the thirst and wet the bite.
For the bite, we select Chicken Cafreal (₹320) and Jeera Fried Rice. It is after quite a while that we have finally tasted authentic Cafreal so this one is a treat. Again, the chicken meat is tender and juicy. Both the chicken dishes have plenty of chicken pieces so the price is justified.
On the side, we have ordered for a King Prawns Rawa Fry, reasonably priced at ₹320. The prawns are fresh and the masala they are fried in is also delectable.
For desserts (free), we see the familiar dark blue tow van creep in and interrupt the afternoon meal of a few diners by picking up the two wheelers that have been parked illegally along the curb. The scraping of chairs, the clatter of steel cutlery, the short sharp cries from a bevy of pretty girls, all add to the amusement as youngsters (who have been warned earlier by a couple of the restaurant's staff), rush to whisk their bikes out of the reach of the law before they are loaded into the van or to strike a deal to spare a trip to the nearest police chowki!
The Curry House would always be our go-to-place for a quiet and lovely meal on a lazy weekday afternoon.
