T.s central state library .Circulation section closed on sunday. Reading room open all days 8am - 8pm. Great variety of books, peaceful atmostphere. Lifetime membership card issued against refundable security of Rs. 500

Central State Library is in sector 17 Chandigarh near D C Office. You need to be the first member and then you can issue books for a minimum of 14 days. Very well maintained library. Good vibes if you want to study. Highly recommended

I have been to the reading room a couple of times and the phrase ‘pin drop silence’ comes to mind every time. There is not even a peep from anyone there. Everyone is busy accomplishing their dreams and it motivates you to do the same. I got a lifetime membership for Rs 500 around 3 years ago and I thought is was a great deal. Not really sure what the fee is now. Probably the same. One needs to come super early to book a good seat otherwise you’ll find yourself sitting in the corridor. I have never been to the library in the building but will visit soon.
