Nestled in the lush green avenue of santhi colony, this restaurant is very easy to miss if not for it's popularity!! Well known for its rustic, healthy food prem's grama bhojanam didn't falter to live upto it's popularity!! We started off with their tomato soup which was soothing on the throat and the crispy vadams were a nice addition!! Their mushroom pepper fry was also good!!! On to the main course we had the variety rice of the day, keerai sadham made of millets and served with a Kari!! Despite the huge quantity, the rice was light on the tummy and was mildy seasoned!!! Lastly, the panagam was also nice!! I loved the way they served Tulsi water instead of regular water!! Overall, a good place well within budget!
Prems graama bhojanam, Anna Nagar, Chennai.
And this traditionally done up place has the most yummiest and healthy food. The all health food place. Serves food that is made with millet only. Did you know that millet is complex carbs and takes long to digest and hence you will not put on weight as quickly as you do when you eat simple carbs like rice.
At prems they do not use maida or any refined flour, no white sugar, no vanaspati, no colour, no artificial flavours, no preservatives and no soda. Everything you eat here is natural and full of goodness. They use only ghee and rice bran oil for cooking.
The most softest idly is made not of rice but of millets. Dosa are made using black rice, red rice, Bajra, and different varieties of millets.
Kulfi the dessert is made using palm jaggery and dry fruits and served in earthen pot!
End of it could not ask for anything more healthy.
Mr Krishna Murthy the brain behind this wonderful concept of healthy eating has a wealth of knowledge about these foods. Do meet him on your visit if he is there. You will know more about what you eat!
Anna Nagar, and when I'm there, it is quite confusing to choose from so many wonderful options for food. There are so many places I haven't visited yet, but somehow I was in a mood for vegetarian food, couldn't think beyond Prems Graama Bhojanam. Me and a friend dropped in around 2PM and Mr. Krishnamoorthi, owner of Prems Graama Bhojanam was there too. He asked us if we'd like to try some new additions to the menu, we couldn't be happier. Ragi Pakora, Tawa-fried Sweet Potato with Allam Chutney (aka Ginger chutney), Cutlets, and Apollo Paneer (inspired by the Hyderabadi Apollo Fish).
Ragi Pakora was yummy, crispy and very tasty. The quantity was quite a lot for a serving. Tawa-fried Sweet Potato tasted good with the ginger chutney, I felt it could have been a bit spicier by itself. I was told it was a hit with kids. The cutlet had sweet potato, and channa I think, tasted very good. The showstopper was the Apollo Paneer, We loved it! The paneer was extremely soft and the Andhraish touch from the chillies was mindblowing. This was yet to be included in the menu we were told. It ended up as complimentary :)
After all these, myself and a friend decided to share a meal between us. We got a small portion of soup, just to taste. As usual, tasted very good. The meal had a Thinai Rava Kesari which was a fitting end to the wonderful meal !
I would gladly come back anytime if I have vegetarian food in mind ! The bill was about 315 in all, excluding the Apollo Paneer.
