Extremely popular place in Adyar. Arguably THE GO TO PLACE for meals (lunch) for the general population here. They handle the crowd well, and they continue to be the preferred place for most of the locals who tend to eat outside on an everyday basis.
You see ‘1978’, first thing from the platform if you are walking in that locality. That made me think that the restaurant’s name was 1978 but it was not. Adyar Sree Bhavan is the name and it serves its purpose.
We went there around 7 PM for quick tiffin before shopping. We ordered a couple of Mini Tiffin’s, a Sambar Vadai and a Sambar Idly. Mini Tiffin had a Masal Dosai, Vadai, five Mini Idlies, Kesari and Coffee. What more do you want in life? Everything tasted good. The standalone Sambar Idly and Sambar Vadai too tasted well. My family members loved the sambar much more than me.
Good thing about these no nonsense restaurants are that you’d be free to eat in your own way, in your comfortable position, drink how much ever sambar you want. So we got extra two sambars in spite of two of our dishes being sambar based. Total carnage. In spite of everything the damage done to the wallet was limited and the experience gratifying.
Adyar Sree bhavan is the best in quality and taste..located opposite Telephone Exchange LB road,
Masala dosa is my all time favourite dish over here..Must try place
