Heard so much about the "cheesiest" place in all of Chennai, so much so that we had to pay a visit to it. Great ambience, extremely professional staff, courteous and generous handling of all of its customers was a given.
We kicked out their palette with its most renowned soup "Brocolli and Cheddar". Truly one of the finest soups I have ever had. We also ordered a few cheesy starters such as "Grilled Cottage Cheese" and "Spicy Cheese Stuffed Mushroom". At this point, we were simply hooked onto each and every item they have on the menu. We ended the day with "Spicy Tomato, Spinach Pesto" pizza, and every dish was impeccably prepared and served with a very unique presentation. A glass of sangria did go very well with the spicyness of the pizza and that is the story of the day.
It definitely did not burn a hole in our pockets given its part of a 5-star hotel. A beautiful memory to keep rekindling every now and then indeed. Must visit.
In the remote bylanes of MRC Nagar Chennai, holed up in the Somerset Greenways Hotel is this gorgeous little cafeteria called Fromage that caters to your 'cheesy' cravings.
It has a pretty quaint decor with a huge parking space. The fare is a tad bit overpriced but what you get kinda makes you drool over. Service was prompt. Definitely garners another visit to relish the rest of their menu.
Food:
Broccoli & Cheddar soup - Cheesy smooth cream of broccoli soup, THE BEST BROCCOLI SOUP EVER; the right amount of salt and pepper, that cheddar pull from the wicked smooth soup was ULTIMATE 🤩🤩
Sun Dried tomato olive tart - Sour dried tomatoes with pesto, olive oil in Shortbread tart shell; crunchy hard base with an oily pesto; had more kick from the pesto than the tomatoes, UNIQUE taste 😗
Bruschetta veg 4 ways - Basil salsa tomato with Mozzarella, Grilled veggies Ratatouille with Ricotta, Olives & Jalapenos in Parmesan & Mushroom in Cheddar
That is a whole truck of cheese right from France; each one had a different taste, sour, spicy, sour kicky, and a bit sweet from the salsa, WOW 👌
Veg tower nachos - Handmade crispy corn chips decked like a tower with loads of cheese, sour cream, and veg nacho sauce, Pretty good since no hint of preservatives, GOOD ☺️
Chicken Parmigiano - Crispy yet tender chicken baked in classic parmesan cheese; this was all about gooey goodness along with the herbs and salsa 🥰
Spicy onion jam & 3 cheese sandwich - Pretty weird but was UMM OKAY at the end; sweet onions fried until caramelization with a hint of chili and loads of cheese, soft and crispy, sounds UH OH but with the fries, this was tolerable 😑
Caramelized onion & cream cheese pizza - Probably ordered by mistake but yet another sweet onion but with cream cheese this time; same taste, too sweet, spongy filling in a thin crust, heavy by the end 😷
Death by chocolate - A 24-layer chocolate cake with fresh choco cream and choco filling topped with choco fondant; this was everything that was missing in the main course. Fluffy, creamy and so damn good to sum up the meal 😍
Ambiance/Price:
This is the best part of this place. It is conveniently located inside the Somerset building with valet parking. The walkway leading to the restaurant is always breezy by the night owing to the beach just behind the building.
Table booking is recommended since there is not much seating space. The waiting time too is high for their signature dishes. But, once we were ensconced, the lighting, setup, and ambiance were grandiose.
Service was good with cheese in every one of their dishes. But they are pretty high on the price scale with all the dishes above the nominal level
(Quality: Price ratio tries its best to match it though).
