The other side Hyderabad after launch had a nice vibe and buzz around the most happening Jubilee hills Rd #36 and eventually garnered as THE PLACE TO BE and slowly it faded due to over focus on music gigs and cocktails but then they re-thought their strategy and after 2 months of intense re-vamping decor, food and mainly the menu to focus on food and give it a cafe feel, they have rechristened themselves as TOS Cafe & Cocktails. Little did the foodie world knew about it including and so when I was asked to review the food menu, I was more than skeptical about what it would deliver but little did we know it would be one of those unassuming places which whipped up a HUGE HOME RUN when it came to food and drinks.
As I haven't been to the THE OTHER SIDE , decor appealed to me with both interior and exterior sections well divided and exciting. The funkiness was evident in the posters and the table mat prints and added to the pep mood.
Coming to food, I wouldn't go into every dish as the set menu offerings planned for the session in steady pace and each one impressed me mighty and left no stone unturned. Chef Rahul's expertise to dish with utmost authenticity spoke in terms of flavors, presentation and overall appeal of each dish.
My Top picks were #RoastedChicken (whole chicken marinated and roasted like turkey style with sautéed veggies and mash) - priced at 1400 INR it looks steep but the quantity and the flavors justifies as it could be meal for 4 easily. #ShikampuriCroquettes was a surprise stunner in terms of the super smooth mutton mash (Shikampuri) served inside cheese croquette which was simply brilliant.
Dishes like #BhendiPakoda , #VegLasagna , #CajunFriedPrawns were outstanding as well but wait does that mean the drinks are not in focus? oh no, hold on :) Their cocktails mighty impressed me . #GardenGardenMule - Vodka based cooler was mind blowing and #NikolaTesla - Whiskey Winner was brilliant. Mocktails like #BerryMintBlast was my top pick.
Service staff were pleasant and headed to our ad-hoc requests as well and kept us extremely well pampered. With the outside section looking stunner and FOOD backing their revamp strategy big time, I feel TOS Cafe & Cocktails has indeed done their home work right and my experience proves testimony to the same.
Verdict:
If they keep this game at this notch and focus on food consistency (which I believe is strong based on their homework), TOS Cafe & Cocktails can indeed turn THE OTHER SIDE towards success and being a name in the game.
"If you wanna come back with a big bang, do it like TOS" this is what I felt literally when I exited this place after an amazing experience. ALL THE BEST guys
