Celebration of Third Indian Wine Day at The Legacy Grill
The Indian Wine Day has become a marquee event for the wine lovers in India, as it has gained popularity year after year. In its Third year, the occasion will be marked by the pairing of finest Indian wines and exquisite Indian food.
In the last few decades, science—especially chemistry—has caught up to the food and wine craze, dispelling some myths and explaining why some things just don’t go together. Use these logic to help your wine pairing meal go down more smoothly. With utmost precision the menu for the Indian Wine Day event is crafted to compliment the fine palate of the wines with the Indian cuisine.
Pairing : Fratelli Shiraz Rose & Morning Glory Tikkia Kebab
Fratelli Shiraz Rose and Morning Glory Tikkia Kebab : Morning Glory flavoured Tikkia Kebab paired with the Fratelli Shiraz Rose, with bright golden, pink hues, this wine offers fruity notes reminiscent of strawberries, orange and lemon flowers, both on the nose and the palate. Pairing felt like refreshing in mouth yet complex aromatics and crisp acidity.
Pairing : Sula Sauvignon Blanc & Murg Ke Parchey
This pairing was an interesting one: Sula's Sauvignon Blanc served with Murg Ke Parchey. This is the wine that made the world sit up and take notice of Indian wine. Herbaceous, crisp and dry, with aromas of bell peppers, intermingled with tropical fruits like passion fruit and gooseberry (amla) with a racy, zingy finish. This is an aromatic, very dry and crisp wine.
The chicken breast pieces, which were lacto-fermented before cooking, echoed the acidity of the wine. Slow cooked chicken — seasoned with Indian spices — brought out the wine's savory notes. The hot, salty appetizer helped to open up the tightness of the wine. The room agreed that it was a successful pairing and drained their glasses.
Pairing : Fratelli Noi & Gulkand Gulab Jamun
Pair rich foods with full bodied wines, and delicate foods with light bodied wines. A soft, creamy Gulkand Gulab Jamun with fresh rose petals would be a good balance for a fruity wine with subtle berry flavors and fruit notes. Fratelli Noi is a luscious sparkling wine that pairs well with sweet dishes like this due to the wine’s fruity complexity. The smooth carbonation was a delight with the Gulkand Gulab Jamun and the pairing was both contrasting and complementary.
