Simple, authentic, tasty food. Friendly waiters. Jolly ambience.
Allright, where do I start .... !!!
A lotta memories associated with this, just pure nostalgia everytime I am here .... !!!
So I guess I am around 7-8 we're coming back from Sunday Mass at this Church in Panjim, and we stop to do some shopping at the market, the usual Fish, Seafood and little bits and bobs. But I am least interested in that, coz as a kid coming to the market means you get treated to a snack or two, and I was pestering my mother to take me out for some. We walk through the market in our Sundays finest shopping bags in hand, and stop in front of this place run by a lady that my Grandmother seems to know very well.
We get in and it's nothing fancy, simply lit, simple furniture, a little bar by the billing counter, simple but cozy and welcoming. The ladies get to talking and in Konkani they mutter the order for some snacks and I remember taking a bite of the Roast Beef Sandwich that they serve here and just falling in love with it there and then, of course back then I got a soft drink along with this and not a beer π π and then pestering mother to bring me here everytime we're at the market ... !!
Fast forward 18 or so years, my friend's are off to another place for lunch and I roam the market alone, just take it all in and I am now hungry ... ! I trace the same steps I had taken all those years ago when I had first come here, and I step in an Bam, it all comes back to me in that instant ... !!
The Nonna is still there, the boss woman behind the counter, but her kids now grown up are handling the orders and doing the running around.
When you order you say " Snacks Plate " and what comes with it you ask ... ? Ready ... !!
Chicken Liver PatΓ© Sandwich, Roast Beef Sandwich, Fish, Beef, Egg & Pork Croquettes, Chicken Puff & Egg Puff ... !!
Liver PatΓ© not my thing, but in this sandwich form, I totally don't mind it .. !
That Roast Beef Sandwich, tender thin slices of meat, I cannot possibly begin to describe the flavours in there it's meaty, satisfying, since the meats so brilliantly cooked and sliced thin it just melts in your mouth, you just have to try it for yourself, ridiculously good ... !!
The Croquettes, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, a good amount of Fish or Beef or Pork in there, tender meats, just so so good .. !
The Puffs, again good flaky pastry on the outside, tender, nicely cooked Chicken filling or a hard boiled egg on the inside ... !!
Brilliant Stuff ... ! All of this and a nice cold Beer for what 220 or something ... ! Happy Days .. !!
Please Do Try This Place Out & Definitely Do Not Miss The Beef Sandwich
