At the time.of writing this review, I believe Flora has unfortunately officially permanently brought down it's shutters. Although I work not more than 10 mins away from this iconic place, I hadn't heard about it until a few months ago and finally only ventured in here to try it out when I heard that they were closing down. We stopped by here one spontaneous night on the way home from work and although it was just the two of us, we ordered enough for us for two meals for the obvious reason that we probably wouldn't be able to eat here ever again.
When we opened up the menu whilst seated at the table right below the two huge gold dragons on the wall, the first thing that caught our attention was the Pork ribs. We asked our friendly waiter to bring immediately while we continued to go through their extensive menu. Since we didn't want to fill our stomachs too quickly, we decided to skip the staples like rice and noodles and only order the 'side dishes'. So we ordered the
-Kung Pao Lamb: so tasty, filled with cashews and chilly so it had quite the bite, but it kept me coming back for more
-Classic Chicken Spring Roll: since this was such an iconic restaurant I wanted to try this classic dish here. More of a miss than a hit. Or maybe I'm just tuned to liking the regular "Indianised" spring rolls that we're so used to.
-Chicken Wantons in white mushroom sauce: again, these were different from the Wantons I've been eating all these years. These came in a white soupy gravy. It was quite delicious though. Could have been a hearty meal on its own.
Hands down, the pork ribs and the kung pao lamb were the star dishes of the night. Sadly's all we could try that night although I wish we had the time to try out more, the menu really has some interesting items that will keep calling you back for more.
Awesome Chinese Restaurant, located at worli. We liked the taste of all the food that we had ordered. The Chicken Manchow Soup and Chicken Spring Rolls are very tasty and the best taste we had till now.
It's a big delight to see how a 52 year old AUTHENTIC CHINESE Restaurant has managed to maintain its Legacy among the growing culture of fast food joints... My last visit to Flora was about 12 years ago.... And today I could still feel the same quality, same quantity and the same amazingly delicious taste in their food... The staff is quite attentive and you won't have anything to complain here... Btw, if you're planning a visit on a Sunday evening, then Good Luck... Coz this legendary Restaurant is usually buzzing with Chinese lovers in evenings... Kudos to Flora!!!
