Eminent place for a family outing, great hospitality and malvani food. Their located in an quiet alley witch is rather odd for a family restaurant. Otherwise they have great variety of dishes with an amazing taste, specially recommend to try their fish thali.
OK Thali, fresh fish, very local and very reasonable!
I love Maharashtran coastal food. I don't randomly love it, I adore this type of food and i have it every chance i get! That being said, we often visit these joints in Bandra. This time, on mother's day it had to be Sindhudurg in Dadar. I had never been there, and my husband and his mom were returning to this place after 20 and something years.
We opted for the fish thali - two with bangra and one with rawas fish. Thali was average or below (regarding variety and size) - it came with boiled rice (regular rice), one piece of fish (bangra was medium size and rawas was small size, both were very fresh and so good we had to order one extra bangra), fish curry (which was yummy), one vegetable (potato, which was average), kokam juice, amla pickle (which was not so good) and the fried stuff i forget the name of. I repeat - fish was very very fresh and not a single smell from it. Both fish were very nice, but it was bit disappointing they didn't have too many varieties of fish type. Fried prawns were such a different twist on the usual prawn rawa fry and good size too. Yummy! The tisri masala, which is always my favorite item on the menu, was very nice and very different from all other places we have been to. We ordered two tisri masala and two prawn fry.
Quantities were quite small on average, but this is also reflected in their humble price as the final bill came to about 600 rupees per person which is not bad for the feast we had. The waiter forgot the drinks and service overall was ok and place was bit smelly when we first entered, nothing too great. This place is still local so we didn't expect much more. It was overall a very pleasant experience and i think it is always a good choice to try something new. We went there on Sunday (for mother's day) at around 3 pm (they close at 3:30pm and don't take reservations).
Perhaps we will come back and this time we will not wait 20 and something years ;).
