Remember Karma? One of South Mumbai's oldest fine dining restaurant just got a facelift and has been converted into a lavish All Day Café & Bar named 'Canto' which means 'A Song' in Italian.
Located just a stone's throw away from Chowpatty, it's stuck a right cord with its location. The girguam area has a lot of our favourite eateries but what the location was missing of was a full blown pub where you could go after a day's hard work to sit and relax with few cocktails or a beer or so.
The whole exterior of the café and bar is made up of glass frames and off the edge French windows making it look so elegant and hard to not notice it when you pass it by.
The place is huge consisting of roughly 15 - 17 tables of different sizes with 2 to 3 tables having huge sofas making it ideal for a family dinner place as well. The table tops are finished with Italian marbles which adds to the grandeur to the already lavishly made interior.
Coming to the menu they have a few dishes of every cuisine with a twist of their own making it a fusion multi cuisine restaurant.
To begin with we called for Quinoa Salad which was well presented in a unique style wherein the entire salad was draped in a papad cone topped with mascarpone making it look like an icecream
For appetiser we tried the unusual Canto style Bruchetta which had finely chopped olives and tomatoes served on the base of Papad instead of the regular bread topped with feta and fennel tempered arugula. The was their MUST TRY Haryali Panner Bao. I can bet you've not had a bao as tasty was this; considering the tastelessness of a bao they did good justice to the dish with the little sweet and tasty mint mayo dressing inside with laccha onions and paneer. This was follow by Cheese Smokey Cigars which is again a very recommendable dish which looked like spring rolls but a much better version of it served with spicy and tangy tomato salas. And finally our all time favourite Mezze Platter which comes with three types of dips, falafel bullets, garlic breads and unlimited lavash.
Our main course consisted of Sambar Risotto which had a very cheesy and a mild taste of the actual sambar, again a different dish which you can try! And we called for Quesedila which also had its own twist wherein it was served with Jeera Aloo making it a wholesome dish for a hungry tummy.
Our meal ended with their flawless Molten Chocolate with ice cream.
Coming to their spot of attraction - THE BAR! The bar is curated by thorough professionals which serve amazing mocktails and they make it right there in front of you!
We called for Rouge Te which is a tea based cocktail. Our cocktails included their utmost unique and probably trending Well Pitched Sipper which was actually served in an AK-47 look alike gun and was a strong blend of vodka, tequila and beer. Also the Smoky Tango which was made live in front of us could be a good choice for cinnamon and dark chocolate lovers.
Post 11:30 pm they dim their lights and the music is pumped up and the vibe is such that it makes you want to get up and dance. So the classy dinning area suddenly turns into an amazing Pub.
The staff is very courteous and serve very well. Also look out for the owners Mr & Mrs. Konodia who personally go to every table and have a word with the guests taking their feedback.
Their goal is to make the place "your neighbourhood bar" - the place you want to be at. They have made the place wherein you feel the warmth and you feel like home.
Overall the place is amazing with good vibe, sophisticated ambience, vibrant music, comfortable seating, mouth watering dishes and fantastic cocktails.
So SoBo people NO need to go to Lower Parel or khar to party we've got a lively pub in our own vicinity.
We went to Canto for a team lunch today. The food was amazing! I loved everything that we eat. Service was excellent and I certainly will recommend this place
Food - 4.5/5 | Ambience - 5.0/5 | Service - 4.5/5

Canto has an amazing vibe. European seating, glass windows, teak wood and marble tables gives you a soothing as well as comfortable experience. A full modern bar(which is also well designed) really adds to the look & feel of this place. It's one of the best designed Cafe in town. It's divided in two sections, so you can go for a nice family time as well as can rock with your friends at the bar.
The food here is as amazing as the decor. Small plates, Pizzas, Pastas as well as desserts were delicious. Special mention to the Cocktails here, Smokey Tango is what you gotta try here. The balance of whiskey, vanilla, Chocolate bitters and the smokeyness is just amazing. Molten Chocolate is the other one you should try for desserts it's amazing
