The place is very vibrant and have good vibes, the food is very fresh, delicious and juicy. The dessert Golden Snitch is out of the world. A casual cafe with white wooden interiors, a pretty bar, an open kitchen which is really hidden in a corner and plenty of books to pass the time while you wait for your food to arrive. There are plenty of choices and this is ideal for a lazy lunch or a quick evening snack or even dinner. The staff is very courteous. It is very close to Bombay Stock Exchange.
I visited this place on a recommendation from an old friend. I must say I was really impressed with the food. It's mostly continental and Italian fare here. They have a lot of good starters, pizzas and pastas. The desserts were interesting too we had a wonderful hazelnut creme brulee. The staff is nice and courteous and they do help a lot with the menu.
Henpecked has opened up in fort a few months ago. It’s a small place with around 8-10 tables. The interiors are made out of wood, with many books and artifacts filling up the place. The lighting of the place is minimal and they have light music playing in the background, which gives the place a very soothing atmosphere. They have quite a few items on their menu and here are the things that I tried.
1. PICKLE-A-TO:
Though it has a very simple name, the drink itself is quite complex. Its made with a mixture of Vodka, Tequila, Gin, Rum, Jaggery and Toatoes. The mixture of so many things is worked out really well and it has quite a good taste. Rather than serving the cocktail in a cocktail glass, its served in a pickle jar.
2. MALTO MOJITO:
This is a rum based cocktail with blend of malta orange juice and basil leaves. A different version other than the regular Mojito and was quite refreshing.
1. HUMMUS & PITA:
Something different from the regular hummus and pita bread. The hummus at Henpecked is quite dark and topped with some crunchy nuts. Its served with some fresh in house made Pita Bread. The dish was quite tasty.
2. PERI PERI CALAMARI:
Crispy fried calamari served with some mayonnaise and veggies. The presentation of the dish grabs your attention immediately. The calamari is served on a small shovel. The calamari itself was quite tasty with the peri peri flavor giving a nice punch to the dish.
3. BATATAS PRAVAS:
This dish basically consists of roasted potatoes cooked in a spicy tomato sauce and topped with some cheese. It had good flavours, although some of them had become a little soggy.
4. MEZZE PLATTER (VEG & NON VEG):
The concept of platter basically means small quantities of different varieties of veg and non-veg dishes served on a large platter. The platter at henpecked consists of very few items, with most of the platter filled with veggies, 5 different sauce and few chicken pieces. The grilled chicken was really tasty and the overall presentation was quite good, although I would have loved it if they had more items on the platter.
5. POMODORO SPAGHETTI:
The pomodoro spaghetti was quite tasty. The spaghetti was not at all doughy and cooked really well. The pomodoro sauce had some really nice texture to it.
6. BACONATOR:
This is a must try dish at Henpecked. Hand tossed pizza base topped with loads of cheese, some grilled chicken and Bacon. Its served with some mustard cream sauce.
7. FISH N CHIPS:
I had high hopes from this dish, but was left disappointed for sure. The fish was cooked well, but the crumb was way too salty. Also, the finger chips served with the fish were not upto the mark.
C. DESSERTS:
8. GOLDEN SNITCH:
For every harry potter fan out there, you have got to visit this place and try out this amazing dessert. The dessert is based on the Golden Snitch from the harry potter series. A golden chocolate ball with chocolate wings immediately grabs your attention. You need to crack open the ball and the chocolate mousse, brownie and choco chips just flow out.
9. MOCHA FUDGE TREAT:
The fudge treat is another masterpiece. The presentation is spot on, with a base of chocolate and coffee infused brownie, topped with chocolate ice cream, having a tempered chocolate cube on it and finishing off with some coffee mouse. The strong coffee flavor feels great to the taste and goes really well with the chocolate.
10. SIZZLING BROWNIE WITH VANILLA ICE CREAM:
The brownie was not that great, however the ice cream and chocolate sauce make up for it.
Overall a good place to visit, to try out their vast menu with quite interesting items. They have some really good cocktails and food items. Few dishes require some tweaks, but other than that its a must visit place.
Note:
1. Cost for 2 people: ₹2000 - ₹2200.
2. The place is quite small, so reservation of table is recommended.
