The bun maska at Yazdani is out of this world, the place has retained its old world charm and it was well worth it.
Also the owner was an absolute gent and was kind enough to offer me a fortune cookie. Cheers
The best bun maska you could ever have in Mumbai!! And it's such a historic place too, must visit!!
The restaurant bit in the title is slightly misleading, as there is no hot (or cold) food served on the premises - currently at least. This tucked-away heritage property has been undergoing renovations since some time, but that does not make it less appealing to the neighbourhood office-goers. The glass cases are filled with puff pastry biscuits (khara) and other baked goods.
I was allowed to take as many photos as I wanted, the manager proudly informing me that customers may partake of bun-maska to their heart's content on the steps. Apparently, there is no connection with a bakery of the same name in Girgaon.
When I visited at lunchtime, I could only longingly look at the fat raisin buns, so will have to return for breakfast or at tea time some other day. The Shrewsbury biscuits, waiting to be eaten, look fresh and crunchy.
