Verandah 11 is a modern Indian cuisine restaurant designed by a pre Taj’s smart worker Harsh Parekh. The restaurant’s name was derived by the a wide place similar to a Verandah and No.11 which is owner couple’s marriage date…………hence Verendah 11. This restaurant is a pure vegetarian fine dining restaurant located at Cawasji Patel Street, Janmabhoomi Marg, Off Horniman Circle, Fort. I happened to visit this place on Saturday evening. The restaurant have a valet parking facility but we found the parking on our own just right outside the restaurant.
Ambiance is nice and the decoration of this restaurant is beautiful. The only let down side is that the restaurant becomes noisy and we can hear what others are talking on the other table to which is a let-down point but apart from that its fantastic and restaurant people are courteous.
What we ordered: Pesto Infused Hara Bhara Kebab, Honey Pumpkin Kulcha with Garlic Dip, Sambhar Risotto, Gooey Caramel Chocolate Bowl, Strawberry Iced Tea
After we placed the initial order, we were presented with 4 different types of chutneys and 2 pickles in small buckets to accompany with the appetizers. Food quality was nice and portion was also good. The starters were outstanding and we loved both appetizers: Pesto Infused Hara Bhara Kebab were made with a tinge of Pesto sauce on the 5 pieces of Hara Bhara Kebabs presented in a plate garnished with pink colour cream which tasted yummy. Next starter was Honey Pumpkin Kulcha with Garlic Dip which was a marination of Honey and Pumpkin seeds on a mouth-watering Sweet Bread topped with Garlic Curd……we have two words for this and they are simple awesome – A definite recommendation from our side. For the main course we ordered Sambhar Risotto……it was a fusion of Italy and Chennai basically where the Indian Sambhar meets Italian Risotto and its garnished and served with Applam……it had yellow base and was tangy spicy south flavour. We also ordered a Strawberry Iced Tea to go along with the main course. For the deserts we asked the server and he recommended Gooey Caramel Chocolate Bowl which was like a desert invented with a balloon ; served with small portion of brownie and ice cream as well as 2 small portions of chocolate sauce and caramel sauce– a must try for all caramel lovers. Desert was nice but portion was small.
Overall we had a nice experience; we were very happy with the food options we ordered and had a filling dinner so for us the experience was worth trying and even the presentation of all the dishes was nice.

Being an ex-carnivore, I'm still adapting to life without meat. And I'm resigned to the fact that that paneer and mushrooms are the main staple of any vegetarian menu. So Verandah 11 was, to put it mildly, a pleasant surprise for me. :-)
We started with the roasted pumpkin soup. I decided to have the soup because my wife wanted to do a 'one by two'. The soup was a pleasant surprise because it had no hint of sweetness and I hate sweet flavours in my food. Next came some 'assorted' khulchas which were finger licking good, of which the chole khulcha were the best. So far, a great experience.
Next we ordered a roomali khakra rotli. Now I'm partial to roomali rotis so loving this was a no brainer for me.
My wife decided to try the broccoli cheese kebabs, which again I found a good choice. If you noticed, the food isn't exactly run of the mill Indian food. It's a bit on the 'fusion' side and still maintains an Indian base.
Next came some haryali pav bhaji. Now I'm not a pav bhaji fan. At all. But my wife is. So of course I went along for the ride. Turns out the dish is again pretty good. For pav bhaji that is. I was able to keep it down. Which is something no pav bhaji place has been able to do for me. This place was looking good so far.
On to the main course. Cheese naans, paneer lababdar, daal makhani and jeera rice. Good stuff. Standard Indian fare but made really well again.
Now we come to the really mind blowing stuff. Dessert. Now I find that Indian desserts are a bit on the too sweet side. And too syrupy. So I was looking forward to the standard ice cream selection for myself. Three words: Gulab. Jamun. Cheesecake.
Yup. Apparently that's a thing now. And wow, was it good!
Overall am amazing experience and 5 stars just for the cheesecake! Also for the ambiance and food overall but oh my god the cheesecake!
