As a Goan, I’m always excited to see my native cuisine become more accessible. So I was particularly excited to visit.
Not only does Porto and Poie boast of authentic Goan food, they also have some actual Portuguese cuisine on the menu.
The storied cocktails we tried were fun, they’re named after different villages in Goa which brings in a sentimental aspect.
There’s a good variety of meat as well as vegetarian dishes on the menu as well as the famous Poie / Podi (traditional Goan bread).
Tasted some dishes I grew up with like the Pork Aamsol but one of my favorite dishes was the Pineapple Curry - milk & fragrant with coconut juice. I would definitely go back just for it!
We finished with Serradura, yummy Portuguese pudding named after sawdust.
Definitely recommending this place, whether it’ll be your first taste of Goan food OR you’ve been eating it all your life, like me! 🍛 🍹
Porto & Poie serves Goan food in French style small plates and mains. The Chef has managed to package the best Goan food into tapas style small plates. The churizo pav (Goan Sausage) is very good and I loved the mutton xacuti, which was prepared excellently. If you are craving for Goan cuisine or want to be introduced to it, Porto & Poie is the place to go to!
