We recently tried "Sukka chicken" and "parotta" at "Ramaniya Restraunt" near Ballard estate! Well it's a small place with regular customer visits and super cooperative staff ! I must say inspite of the daily rush these guys have kept the place clean !
Speaking about food, this place is more famous for their malabar style chicken and fish , hence sukka chicken was no ordinary dish , it had those amazing south indian flavours , the right tadka with roasted curry leaves and mustard seeds and not too spicy , with a typical malabar style "parotta" and we elevated the dish just with my all favourite @cocacolaindia , it was an amazing experience .
I was in the Fort area with my wife the other day (I live in Pune btw) for some work in a Govt Office. And as with most Govt. Offices the public servants are very very punctual..... about their Lunch timings. We too decided it was a good time to grab a bite.
So we found this average looking eatery with all tables occupied save for one. We ordered two fish fry and rice combo (one Mackerel and the other black pomfret). We were given an option with rice and we decided to go with brown rice. The food was served in a jiffy and it consisted of a plate full of brown rice, a bowl of curry, a bowl of rasam, a simple cabbage bhaji and a medium sized fried fish. Oh my! I am a native of Goa and I swear by the beautiful beaches in Goa, I never tasted fish as good as this outside Goa. The fish was fresh and with a very simple masala fry, it simply blew my mind. The curry was good and complementing it was the delectable rasam. I was so in love with the fish that i ordered another fried black pomfret. It was so good I even chewed the head of the fish (which I normally wouldn't). All in all an excellent and tasty food in a rather cramped hotel in a rather average location.
pocket-friendly south indian restaurant, this is the place in you wanna have malabar(kerala) cuisine. Their parantha’s are crisp, and goes well with both veg and non veg dishes.
