We were there for Christmas lunch and being vegetarian it was delightful to have so much variety to choose from. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and was in sync with festive mood.
We ordered Ribbon pasta and Mezze platter with sodas. Mezze platter was absolutely delicious and will definitely try again. Pasta was good to but too many lentils and no pine nuts dis balanced the taste.
Staff is courteous and professional and despite fully packed, service was quick.
we just had veg platter here it had many things in it
samosa pinwheel
raw banana fingers
spinach and cheese empanada
polenta sticks
it all were intriguingly interesting.
then we were left more beers so we ordered
"our version of sweet nothing chilly vegetables"
Most interesting part was all vegetables we chopped in same size so before you could get a bite of it, it waa hard to tell what are we getting this time out of the bowl.
A vegetarian restaurant set next to the food court of ambience mall. The USP of the restaurant would be their careful consideration into curating every item on the menu -- their idea of creating 'fusion food' that involves a play with different ingredients. Full points to them for this different take on the regular fare seen in other restaurants.
Being a vegetarian only restaurant might seem like a daunting task, but the careful and brilliant curation lets the restaurant pull this off quite comfortably.
Would I recommend this place? Definitely. And even to the non vegetarians for the food simply manages to hold your taste buds in good fervour throughtout.
Based on what I've tried from the two visits to this restaurant:
1. Sweet Nothings : The restaurant's version of honey chilli vegetables, I would definitely recommend this as a starter/one of the frst things to try. The crisp vegetables with the taste of honey, smeared with sesame seeds make for an ideal starter and set the taste buds tolling for the main course. Also, points for using choice vegetables (zucchini, baby corn) and not just the usual pyaaz, aloo and gobhi.
2. Mushroom Chettinaad
Spicy mix of chettinaad curry, a tad different from chettinaad elsewhere. Fiery hot, masaaledaar and might give points for the fusion of mushrooms and the chettinaad gravy. But the inbred southy in me wouldn't want to go with this chettinaad again.
3. Malaysian coconut curry
The restaurants thai curry served with a (tad small) bed of rice and lotus crisps. Overall a good meal. The thai curry had the perfect balance of being thick enough, and the warmth of taking down coconut milk with the right mix of sweetness, topped with their veggies. Would definitely recommend as their must try.
4. Tasting Platters
The platters are creatively curated to represent their idea of incorporating the best from the four 'corners'. Again, points to their play with different ingredients to dish out what's famous in a particular area.
Purple North
One gets a taste of a crispy pulled jackfruit patty in a bun that definitely won our hearts right away.
The quinoa bowl is a must have, what with its mix of vegetables and beans and the creamy dressing. An interesting take on the nakeen dalia and we were almost on the verge of ordering for another bowl by the end of it.
Also fell in love with the tofu khubani kofta served on the bed of a naan. The sweet tangy gravy to the kofta definitely won my heart. The khumb galouti's with the yam pate (a take on falafel and hummus) definitely win points for their creativity.
Purple East
Would definitely recommend their noodles that were a perfect complement to the malaysian coconut curry (a tad sweet though). The sweet nothings were again a favourite though not as crisp by the time they had been served. The garlic toast had an interesting addition of tofu and pickled garlic that gelled well with the crunchiness of the toasted bread.
A warm place to spend some time eating, contemplating and being won over by the courteous staff, the well laod out menu and their different take on food. Go with an open mind and come back with a satisfied soul.
