Breakfast @Purab... One of the old restaurant in Deccan area.. . This hotel has memories of my childhood... We ate very often here after buying a uniform and a book at start of school new year... And then from College, I have come here quite often... So there's a soft corner about this place.. This is a typical udipi restaurant serving really nice South Indian snacks n Punjabi dishes...
Loved the taste of their Crispy Dosa... Still the same😋😍 ... even after all these years, maintained quality... Batatawada was awesome... Chutney n Sambar taste was good.... In my childhood, I liked Chana masala very much... Although not great at ambience but quite good place...Good quality food, nice service at reasonable rate.
Went here with family on a cold, cloudy Sunday afternoon just after Diwali to celebrate my mom's birthday. Dad has memories of coming here first in 1985 and even few times in the later years, all of them reminding him of good decent food.
Three purab deluxe Thalis, one puri bhaji and a ghee rava masala dosa followed a like-everywhere-else masala papad and finger chips. But the Thalis were really good. They had three good Punjabi sabzis, aloo ki sabzi and a beans sabzi. Option of puris, roti or chapati was provided. Chapati and puri seemed decent. Raita and slightly sour dahi accompanied all this on the plate. Good papads, awesome fruit salad and decent pulao all in good quantity followed one after another. It was surely filling and tasty although some sabzi was wasted in the end. Each Thali priced at 130 which is economical given the higher and more hyped Thalis of shreyas and other maharashtrian restaurants, although they being maharashtrian are different in matter. But if you want a good, filling and satisfying quality thali this is a good one for sure!
Now about the rava ghee masala dosa. It was pretty decent although the sambar could have been better but at least the sambar wasn't sweet like some other restaurants in Pune. Rava clearly showed and so did the ghee along with decent aloo ki sabzi inside with some dry fruits. Priced at 60 it was filling only leaving a space for a good dessert. Gulabjamun as dessert was disappointing as it was served cold and right out of the fridge!
The service was prompt. The old restaurant seemed as if its sort of given up on decking up its space the aesthetic improvement. Window Glasses were old and slightly dusty, some broken and covered with paper. This might add a negative point to the place but if you feel that i should not come here because its not so clean and is situated in a slightly shady place, be a bit patient and just focus on your food.
If you want an economical but filling and tasty thali this place has an awesome deluxe thali. So yes its a go-here for the Thalis and also the sincerity of the staff which we felt existed as we ate. Grateful for good food!
