Small and unpretentious, with just a few tables on the rooftop, Evergreen is back in a new avatar. Located just off the small road through the Siolim wetland, connecting Duler-Marna-Siolim and Duler-Sodiem-Siolim roads, it offers great views of the marshland* The menu is limited though, with veg and fish thali, fish and chicken dishes, soups, noodles and fried rice and some dessert. The food isn’t, it’s wholesome and delicious (and notwithstanding a somewhat longish wait), fresh as can be! The veg thali has daal, two vegetables, rice, chapattis, papad and pickle while the fish thali has prawn curry, fried fish, vegetable, rice, chapattis and pickle. At ₹100/120 per thali respectively, it’s really good value for money. We also ordered a portion of the fried kingfish and squid chilly (the latter, served with chapattis). If you’re looking for simple, home cooked food at really good prices, then this little eatery sure hits the spot!
* Update 04 March ‘18 : we came for breakfast, Idlis and omelette, fresh and quick ! The views are stunning and a birders delight : you can spot egret, ibis (black-necked & glossy), heron (grey, purple & pond), stork (open bill & woolly necked), kingfisher (white breasted & pied), bronze-winged jacanas, whistling duck, Brahminy kite and the big bonus, spotted eagle!
