It's becoming the hot spot for foodies in the group... Seeing multiple reviews of the same place in one day... That too all good.... So I thought I'll also contribute to it...
The Place as you all might have guessed by now is Lalaji Dilli wale.
I have previously tried some Dishes on my last 2 visits & this time also wanted to try new things this place has to offer...
What we ordered?
Dosa Cigar Roll
Katori Chaat
Chole Bhature
Hara Bhara Kebab
Crispy Corn
Pav Bhaji
Cheese Pav Bhaji
Shahi Thali
Watermelon Mojito
Dal Makhani Combo
Only I had previously tasted Dosa Cigar Rolls & Chole Bhature here. So I took the review from my family about these 2 things rather then telling them what I thought about them.
Dosa Cigar Rolls - Spring roll sheets stuffed with mashed potatoes in South Indian spices & deep fried. Looks chinese but will take you back to south if you have tasted dosa in South.
Katori Chaat -Tarts filled with mixture topped with curd & chutney & garnished with sev. The filling was good & tasty. The quantity was really good. Each & every Tart was crisp.
Chole Bhature- The taste was very similar to what I have eaten in delhi on my visit. The bhature was fluffy, perfectly fried from side (sometimes they remain uncooked from sides). The Chola Gravy was really tasty but I couldn't found any Chickpeas in it. Upon asking the owner, he said that they keep it on a boil regularly so they have gone soft & while cooking have broken into small pieces. The taste was not affected but as we all are use to biting chickpea while eating it seemed a little different. The owner ensured that he will take necessary steps.
Hara Bhara Kebab - I have almost ordered this dish anywhere & everywhere we went as family or for dinner or lunch plans. Every place has their own method of preparing & cooking it. What I liked here was that it was not much gooey more on the hard tikki side. It tasted good, had good crisp & that's what I wanted in it so I liked it.
Crispy Corn - At majority of places I have tried this dish they deep fry corn & toss them with veggies. But here they were topped with different sauces. It's a must try...
Pav Bhaji (With & Without Cheese) - I prefer thick gravy in my Pav Bhaji. Here I found the same with perfectly buttered buns to go with it. Though in the cheese one the cheese made it again thick... Either in cheese pav bhaji they can make the gravy a little watery or use less cheese.
Shahi Thali - It comprised of One Paneer Veg, Dal Makhani, Mix Veg, Jeera Rice, Plain Curd, fried papad, onion rings, Gulaab Jamun & 2 Laccha Parantha... By far one of the good thali I have tried... Dal Makhani is a must try here...
Water Melon Mojito - Tried it on Owners recommendation. Found it to be really good & refreshing. Do try it if youn want something to drink after all the butter, oil & cheese...
Dal Makhani Combo-Dal was cooked very well & was garnished with cream. 2 full size Laccha Paratha which were cooked nicely & layers were visible.
Bhel Puri - The mixture of puffed rice. onions & chutneys create a perfect snack topped with sev.
Overall Review
It's a good place for small groups where you can relish on chaat items as well as main course food without burning a hole in ones pocket. Dishes are very reasonably priced. The place doesn't boast of high end interiors or a view of any kind just a simple AC seating arrangement that to for not more than 20 to 30 Pax in one go. Their Thali, Dosa Cigar & Crispy corn are must try.
Taste is too good, Dal makhni rice combo my favorite. Great Test with Reasonable price. Best Restaurant for Veg. People in Udaipur
